I
t's not the memorized facts that have CEOs concerned. It's the other things that subjects like history impart: critical thinking, research skills, and the ability to communicate clearly.
A candidate who demonstrates capabilities in critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and communication has a far greater chance of being employed today than his or her counterpart without those skills.
In my position as CEO of a firm employing over 80,000 engineers, I can testify that most were excellent engineers—but the factor that most distinguished those who advanced in the organization was the ability to think broadly and read and write clearly.

South Florida has always been known for its beautiful beaches. But in 1961, those beaches were not integrated, and the beach set aside for black citizens in Broward County was only accessible by boat. When their requests for a bridge connecting the beach to the mainland were ignored, the black community took on the
responsibility
to gain for themselves the right
to use a public beach.Slide11

Our project: Milton Hershey: More Than Just Chocolate, relates to the theme
because Milton Hershey was a leader to the orphaned boys in his school. He also was aleader to other philanthropists by showing that he could use his money wisely. MiltonHershey School left a legacy because it is still operating today and helping low incomechildren have an opportunity for a better future. People don’t understand how much
Milton Hershey actually did. Most people think of Milton Hershey as a great
confectionery artist, but what it really all comes down to is his philanthropy and his
school.
