Closely linked to Truman Doctrine
A ‘European Recovery Plan’ announced June 1947
Called for European countries to create their own for reconstruction, to be funded by the US
Soviets rejected involvement: The terms encouraged the development of an integrated European capitalist economy
Soviets blocked involvement of Eastern European countries
This further strengthened the division in Europe and made Churchill’s ‘Iron Curtain’ a realitySlide11
