Activities Rep Coventry University Students’ Union (CUSU) Salary: £300 Stipend per semester (pro-rata) TERM OF OFFICE: | PART TIME ROLE TRAINING: October 2020 The Activities Rep will be required to attend training in preparation for starting the role. Eligibility: Must be a student in their Faculty for at least two semesters. Overview Activities Reps are responsible for representing students of their school in relation to the following areas: student societies, sport and wellbeing, volunteering, student media and local community projects. The Activities Rep is a key member of CUSU’s student led team and works alongside their fellow Activities Reps and Faculty Officer to enhance the student experience. Role Purpose To represent students in their school in regard to activities ensuring CUSU is operating in their best interests. To communicate all of the Activity related opportunities on offer to students in their school and encourage participation. Role Overview: • Represent the students of the relevant school on all activities matters relating to the student experience. Receive feedback and report any matters to the relevant student, University and external committees. • Communicate with students to collect their views on issues and ideas that come up throughout the academic year • Ensure appropriate liaison with the Faculty Officer and Sabbatical team of CUSU, working collaboratively on projects on behalf of the students in the school • Lead on the promotion of CUSU activities across their schools. • Engage students within their school in CUSU campaigns and activities and feed in ideas and suggestions that will benefit the development of CUSU within the Faculty. • Maintain the democratic processes within the Rep structure, promote the officer positions and encourage students to be involved with CUSU. • Attend Activities Forum Meetings • Represent their school on Feedback Weeks and suggest topics relating to student’s social and activities-based experience. • Carry out other duties deemed appropriate by the students of their school. Societies The Activities Rep will represent their school when providing feedback and suggestions to the CUSU societies team. They will create a good relationship with societ

ies and attend events where possib
ies and attend events where possible. The Activities Rep will work with the officer and societies team to develop the CUSU/Faculty social media channels and create engaging content. They will support the promotion of CUSU in their school, the creation and adoption of new societies and ensure funding for societies is regularly promoted. They will encourage engagement within their school to society activities. Sports & Wellbeing The Activities Rep will support the Sports department and Sports and Wellbeing Officer in promoting activities within their school. They will support the officer and sports department in promoting accessible sporting opportunities for all abilities, including recreational and competitive activities and promote the physical wellbeing of the student body. They will help create new sport opportunities that link to different courses in their school where suitable. Volunteering, Sustainability and Community Engagement The Activities Rep will support in promoting volunteering activities and gaining feedback from students on school level volunteering ideas. They will also support in creating school focused sustainability and community engagement activities. They will support the planning and delivery of campaigns relevant to these areas and promote them to students whilst gaining their ideas on feedback of potential volunteering based activities. Meetings Activities Reps will attend a monthly Activities Forum where they will work alongside other Activities Reps on activities occurring on a faculty, University or community level. Activities Reps will represent their schools using student feedback to create and develop further activity-based opportunities. Activities Reps will also attend a student voice working group once a month in their faculty to represent the student voice in relation to activities. Activities Reps will be accountable to the students of their respective school and should actively promote transparency in all work. You will be responsible for keeping students up to date with your work, ensuring you feedback outcomes of key decisions within the Union and Faculty that relate to students questions. Your hours spent on your role will be monitored and reviewed by the Students’ Union to keep you on track, provide support and help with your personal and professional development. Each Activities Rep is required to serve a minimum of two terms in their role, however, if they wish may serve for three.
