Digital Devices

The Department of Education provided a total of 684 devices and 92 4G dongles to Medway Council for Vulnerable Children, these devices were Microsoft Laptop (580), Google Chromebook (77) and Microsoft Tablets (27). A total of 27 Microsoft Laptops and 12 Dongles were provided by The DfE for disadvantaged year 10 students. To be eligible for a device, the child was required to be aged between 0-19 with Medway social worker, including children who are open to a disability team, or a Care Leaver – which was outlined by the DfE. Guidance. Requests for devices were received by social workers and schools. Requests were checked to avoid double funding, the number of siblings in a home and utilisation of a single device, risk assessments (exploitation or any additional vulnerabilities) and to ensure the request meets the eligibility. The devices were delivered and stored at Gun Wharf and arrangements were made between Virtual School, school/college, and IT department to collect and sign for devices.
