Application and Admission InformationAdmission to the dental hygiene program is a separate process from general admission to the college and requires a separate application. Email Notice of Intent to Apply to Enrollment Services (After application period opens on January 15th) Email Enrollment Services at

dentalhygieneapplicants@tncc.edu Send all emails from Thomas Nelson email address, include your name/student number and state your intent to apply to the dental hygiene programSubmit resume at this time Students must complete electronic application and submit by March 1st for consideration.

Entrance Requirements, Cont’dPre-requisite courses MUST be completed with a grade of “C” or higher in order to apply to the dental hygiene program:SDV 101, College Success Skills (Waived if previous degree is held)CST 100, Principles of Public SpeakingENG 111, College Composition IBIO 150, Introductory MicrobiologyCHM 101, Introductory Chemistry

8PRE-REQUISITE GPA CALCULATIONSMinimum pre-requisite 2.5 GPA is required

Higher GPA is beneficialAdmission Average GPA = 3.815Admission GPA is calculated using grades received in the pre-requisite courses listed on previous slide. Excludes SDV101 since it’s Pass/Fail.

When transfer courses are used to satisfy the pre-requisite courses, the transfer grades are included in the calculation. If a student has multiple enrollments in a single course, the most recent grade is included in the calculation.

Dental Hygiene CurriculumCourses to CompleteThese courses are part of the dental hygiene curriculum and are recommended for completion prior to applying and are not calculated in the pre-requisite GPA. All courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or higher HUM 201, Humanities elective

HTL 230, Principles of NutritionPSY 200, Principles of PsychologyStudents are encouraged to complete these courses prior to entering the dental hygiene program or during a summer term to lessen course workload and facilitate success. Reference & Resume One Academic reference and One Professional reference is required for admission From any pre-dental hygiene course faculty (BIO and CHM faculty preferred)

If an Academic reference cannot be obtained, two Professional references will be accepted from a current or former supervisor and vice versa.Fillable Reference form and instructions available on the dental hygiene webpage at: https://tncc.edu/health/dental/information-and-resourcesCompleted reference forms are to be submitted direct to Enrollment Services at

Pre-Entrance TestingTest of Essential Academic Skills (ATI TEAS)Requirement for admissionMust be taken through Thomas Nelson, but will be remotely proctored due to COVID-19 at your home.Test dates will be sent upon receipt and confirmation of your complete application packet by Enrollment Services. Test will start at 10am.Scores valid for three years and can be re-used (most recent is counted, not the highest score).

Minimum score must be in the 45th percentile (not raw TEAS score)Admission Average TEAS = 85th percentileContent: Math, Reading, English, ScienceAllow up to 4 hours to complete
