GPA REQUIREMENTS (BSN)

Please refer to your University Catalog for a comprehensive list of requirements for admission, progression, dismissal, and graduation. One very important admission requirement involves grade point average (GPA). Note that a minimum GPA of 2.7 is required in all courses for the degree. Students must also earn a minimum grade of “C” in all required biology, chemistry, mathematics, English, and nursing courses.

Sally Mae hopes to formally apply to the BSN program within the next semester or two. The next slide shows Sally Mae’s fall and spring grades.

Comments

The final grade in CHEM 1070 was a “D”. Per the University Catalog, a minimum grade of “C” is required of all biology, chemistry, mathematics, English, and nursing courses. This class must be repeated.Let’s assume Sally Mae repeats CHEM 1070 in the summer and earns a grade of “A”. Note

both

CHEM 1070 final grades are used in the calculation of her BSN GPA.

Every grade counts. Note the impact of an “A” grade in her 1-credit UNIV 1000 class. This “A” grade, although only from a 1-credit class, generated 4 total quality points (which is greater than the “D” grade in Chemistry 1070, that only generated 4 quality points earned).
