Season ResultsSlide20

The objectives:Design and develop a high-output 285 kW (382 bhp) engine for Holden Special Vehicles’ MY1999 GTS based on the production 220 kW (295 bhp) LS1.

Meet General Motors durability and emissions compliance program requirements.

Deliver first engines twelve weeks from start of project.

Deliver approximately 500 engines per model year for installation at Holden vehicle production facility.

Case Study: Holden HSV GTSSlide21

The results:Engine performance exceeded 285kW target, generating 300kW (402 bhp).

Durability and emissions compliance requirements fully accomplished.

International infrastructure developed to implement required supply path:

base engines from GM-Canada were shipped to Callaway/Connecticut for modification, then forwarded to Holden of Australia for assembly line installation, via GM-Romulus, MI

First engines were delivered in twelve weeks from start of project, with approximately 500 300kW engines per year delivered by Callaway - over three production model years.

Frequent victories in Australian “showroom stock” competition.

Case Study: Holden HSV GTSSlide22

Case Study: MAZDASPEED Protegé

The objectives:

Create a production-ready engine application that lives up to the performance promise of the MAZDASPEED brand.

Deliver substantially increased power while maintaining drivability, reliability and complete emissions compliance.

Work side-by-side with Mazda’s engineering staff in Japan and North America.

Test and validate system.

Develop and execute a port installation and training strategy.

The objectives:

Create a special edition of the 2012 Callaway Corvette to commemorate 25th anniversary of first generation Callaway Twin Turbo Corvette, produced with Chevrolet in 1987 (RPO B2K).

Include features to differentiate from standard 2012 Callaway offering, and establish linkage to original Callaway Corvette.

Increased performance, compared to 2012 SC606 model

Unique features: exterior, interior, special model identification

Showcase Callaway capabilities

Test and validate new components.

Coordinate production with GM Bowling Green Assembly.

Complete on time to support GM schedule, and on budget to support dealer pricing target.Slide25

The results:

Callaway developed 620 bhp/555 lb-ft version of the SC606, and designed and manufactured associated components.

Callaway testing and validation with dedicated SC620 pilot car.

1/4 mile acceleration documented: 10.9 sec/127 mph.

General Motors re-assigned 1987-91 Callaway Corvette RPO (B2K) for the limited production 2012 model.

25 cyber gray metallic RPO B2K Corvettes were produced by GM with unique roof color and preparation for Callaway modifications.Callaway showcased powertrain development, carbon design and production, suspension design expertise, and application engineering capabilities.Project was completed on time and on budget.
