Latitude and Longitude
Fields must be populated to create points using this method
Lat
/Long data can be collected using a GPS unit, google maps, etc.
Data can be exported for use in GISSlide4
Creating points using LAT/LONG fields from WINGAP
Dataset of latitude and longitude fields from WINGAP
Field names are LAT and LON
Data can be exported to excel OR a QUERY LAYER can be used to generate a point file in GISSlide5
Creating points using LAT/LONG fields from WINGAP
To export to excel select the box in the top right corner of the results, right click, select “Copy with Headers”, open a blank excel document, right click paste.
Once in excel, save file and add to ArcMap project Slide6

Attribute data for parcel shape file
First step is to add a Latitude (X) and Longitude (Y) field to the attribute data
X and Y fields should be formatted as a DOUBLE with 0 for precision and scaleSlide14

Updating/editing point shape files
Once the new point is created the user can edit the attribute data by keying items such as REALKEY, PIN, and TOTALACRES
Items such as X and Y can be populated using the “Calculate Geometry” toolSlide24
