3. Why We aren't recycling Glass"There currently are no markets for GLASS, mixed paper, paper board, and plastics other than #1 and #2. If markets change, we may be able to add additional materials for collection." (Zippy Disposal Service, Inc.)"Central Washington Recycling no longer accepts electronic waste or glass of any kind." (michelsenpackaging.com)However, glass is still used for pharmaceuticals, cleaning products, food storage, cosmetic goods, and the wine and beer industry."The change is perhaps most dramatic for glass. In most American cities, the glass bottle you toss in the recycling cart is essentially worthless, and if it breaks, the shards may make the paper in a mixed cart worthless as well." (usatoday.com)
