2. ProblemHow does the release distance affect the bounce distance of a golf ball from bounce one to bounce two?

3. Hypothesis I predict that the greater the release distance the farther the ball will travel from bounce one to bounce two

4. VariablesControlled Variables: Angle of the ramp, the ball, the height, the surface the ramp is on.Manipulated Variable: Release point, or distance.Dependent Variable: The distance from bounce one to bounce two.

5. MaterialsCarbon PaperGooglesGolf BallGraf PaperLab ReportMasking TapeMeter TapeScott Paper Towel16 D Nail2 PBC Pipes

6. ProceduresStep 1: We drew a plan/ sketch.Step 2: Mark gets bucket of material.Step 3: Put on googles.Step 4: Construct our PBC pipe ramp.Step 5: Put nail in 10 cm mark.Step 6: Put down paper towel.Step 7: Place carbon paper on paper towel.Step 8: Drop our first ball.

7. Possible ExplanationsThe greater the height of the ball was in the PBC pipe was the more speed it picked up, and the farther the distance was from bounce one to bounce two.

8. Additional QuestionsQuestion #1What happens to the bounce distance when the release distance increases?Answer #1The bounce distance increases when the release distance increases.

9. Additional Questions #2Question #2What is another variable that you would like to manipulate? Write down a problem statement for this new experiment to possibly investigate.Answer #2How far would a bouncy ball travel from bounce one to bounce two?

10. ObservationsOn the 10 centimeter drop the golf ball traveled a distance of 43 centimeters from bounce one to bounce two.On the 20 centimeter drop the golf ball traveled a distance of 51 centimeters from bounce one to bounce two. That is a difference of 8 centimeters from drop 10.On the 40 centimeter drop the golf ball traveled a distance of 75 centimeters from bounce one to bounce two. That a difference of 24 centimeters from the 20 centimeters drop.

11. Observations Part 2On the 60 centimeter drop, the ball traveled a distance of 94 centimeters. This was a difference of 24 centimeters from the 40 centimeter drop. On the 80 centimeter drop the ball traveled 114 centimeters. A difference of 13 centimeters from the 60 centimeter drop. On the 85 centimeter drop the ball traveled a distance of 112 centimeters. This was surprisingly less than the 80 centimeter drop.

12. ConclusionIn conclusion, the greater the release distance is the greater the ball traveled from bounce one to bounce two. This happened because the farther up in the tube the ball is the more time it has to build up speed, creating a further bounce distance.
