3. Project Goal & ObjectivesGoal: This project is a continuation of the research provided by project 2015-464. It will seek to further define the opportunities presented by an alternative false deck design. The project goal is to optimize the design for weight & cost, and qualify to MIL-DTL-901E. Objectives: Optimize the design for weight & cost Reduced labor hours required to produce false deck through reduced hot-workReduced engineering and design hours required to design false decks through standardizationProvide OQE that meet environmental requirements for shipboard use and gain NAVSEA approval

8. Shock Qualification Approach for Alternative Design Heavyweight Shock TestDue to limited real estate on barge, the plan is to test a small configuration of the system If test is successful, use as basis for shock extension of full configurationTransient Shock AnalysisTo support extension of full configuration, the shock responses of the small and full configurations are compared via transient shock analysis perfomed on finite element models of both configurationsThe intent of this comparative evaluation is to verify that the full configuration is extendable from the small (test) configuration prior to the shock test
