T

set a goal that you attempt to

reach

Romans

15:20 “

And so I have made it my aim to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build on another man’s foundation,”

2Corinthians 5:9"

Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him. Slide3

Make This Your Goal

1Thess

4:11-12

“…

that you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you,

that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and that you may lack nothing.

Make This Your Goal

Ambition

is usually set on worldly things such as fame and fortune.

But

as Ecclesiastes teaches us, these are empty

.

Ecc 12:8

“Vanity of vanities,” says the Preacher, “All is vanity.”

God

teaches us a godly goal for life under the sun.

ECC 12:13

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man’s all.

It

doesn’t promise fame or fortune, instead it has the promise of unending love, eternal life and heavenly treasures. Slide5

:

Lead A Quiet

Life

Acts 11:2,18“

And when Peter came up to Jerusalem, those of the circumcision contended with him

,

…When they heard these things they became silent; and they glorified God, saying, “Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life.”

1Tim

2:2"for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence

Mind Your Own Business

1Tim 5:8”

But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.”

1Peter 4:15 “

But let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or as a busybody in other people’s matters.”Slide9

Work With Your Own Hands

1Thess 2:9 ”

For you remember, brethren, our labor and toil; for laboring night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you, we preached to you the gospel of God.”

Eph 4:28 ”

Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.”Slide11

that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and that you may lack nothing.

The Desired Results

That you may walk properly toward those who are outsiders:

Colossians 4:5”

Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.

“Slide13

The Desired Results

That you may walk properly toward those who are outsiders:

That you may lack for nothing:

2Thess 3:10-12 “

For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat. For we hear that there are some who walk among you in a disorderly manner, not working at all, but are busybodies. Now those who are such we command and exhort through our Lord Jesus Christ that they work in quietness and eat their own bread. “Slide14
