Bear with me

Once a upon a time there was a boy
named John, who
lived at the base of a
mountain. One
day he decided to
catch fish for dinner. He gathered his bag, water pouch, bait and fishing rod. He was ready.Slide3
The boy decided to go to the river in the
woods, south of
the mountain
. He walked
for 2
hours and then he decided to give up. On his way back, he found the river. He set his stuff aside and put together his fishing rod and bait. He waited for an hour but there was no fish that bit.
He decided to pack up. As he was about to turn
away, a huge salmon bit the bait and pulled the rod hard
. John let the line loose for a minute and then
pulled the rod. Slide4
He pulled too early and broke his rod.
It
was the
afternoon,
and he did not want to go home without catching anything
. He saw a bear sitting in the middle of the river catch a fish. The boy decided to try the bear’s way of fishing. He stood up in the river and tried to catch a fish by hand. He was not able to catch any
fish, like the bear.Slide5
The boy decided to ask the bear how to catch a fish.
He asked
, “Mr. Bear, may you please teach me how to catch a fish
?”
“Whoa!” said Mr. Bear.
John screamed and got scared. He didn’t expect the bear to talk! “Oh I’m sorry. You scared me! I was concentrating on fishing and I did not notice you,” Mr. Bear added, “So how may I help you?” He asked
again, “Mr. Bear may you please teach me how to fish?”Mr. Bear decided to teach the scared boy his way of fishing. Mr. Bear said, “I
will but you have to bear with me.”He
smiled and agreed. Slide6
Mr. Bear decided to talk the boy through the steps.
“You
must sit in
the river
and wait
for the fish to start nibbling on you.” He did as what Mr. Bear said and the fish started to nibble on him.
He tried to grab the fish but the fish squirmed away.“You tried to catch him too early! You must be patient,” Mr. Bear
said while sitting in the middle of the river, “Let me show you.”
John watched Mr. Bear as the fish
came and nibbled at his legs but he did not budge. Some of the fish left,
but
bigger fish came. Still
he
did not budge. After a very long and quiet time, he suddenly
lunged at the fish
and caught at least five!Slide7
John
was very amazed and decided to try it out
again for
himself.
He
sat in the river again and this time he waited. He did as Mr. Bear did and waited, and waited, and waited,
and waited,
and waited, and then finally
lunged at the biggest salmon
nibbling at his legs.
He
caught
the
fish!After that he
caught 7 huge salmons that day.
The boy was so
happy.
Mr. Bear gave him a bear hug.Slide8
John
appreciated Mr. Bear’s help so much.
He decided to bring
him
home and cook for
him. John said, “Mr. Bear, thank you very much for teaching me. Please come over my house and let me cook fish for you.” Mr. Bear replied, “For sure”
John and Mr. Bear headed for his home
through the woods north
of the river. As they walked home, he asked, “What do you like to have with your fish Mr. Bear?”
He replied
, “
I like
my fish raw with honey and berries
”Slide9
When they arrived home, Mr
. Bear sat in the living room and waited.
John
took out the honey, berries, salt, pepper, vinegar,
oil
and pan. He cleaned the fish, started the fire and happily cooked the fish.Slide10
Mr. Bear was getting very hungry. His stomach started to growl as the sweet smell of the cooked fish traveled throughout the house. He drooled and the drool reached the floor. He went to the bathroom to get some tissue paper to clean his drool; but he could not reach the tissue in the bathroom. He decided to wipe his drool with his fur. “I’M HUNGRY! THIS IS UNBEARABLE!” He growled.Slide11
John yelled from the kitchen, “Bear with me.”
“It’s only funny when I do it.” Mr. Bear replied.
When he finally finished cooking, they both enjoyed the salmon with honey and berries. The End.
