The Armed Forces Game
Everyone will silently mingle waiting for the music to start. The teacher will play one of the five military songs. The moment the music starts, each student will find a new partner (one that hasn’t been their partner before) and identify to which branch the song belongs by striking the proper pose (See next slide). The first few times a song is played, the teacher will announce to which branch the song belongs. After a few rounds and with proper warning, the teacher will stop announcing the branches and the students will rely on their intuition (using lyrics) and memory to determine which pose to strike. The teacher can adjust to the different skill levels of the class by playing multiple different variations:The teacher can start with the first three poses and add the other two as the students become faster at identifying the songsThe teacher can use the process of elimination with the entire class participating. Once identified as the last to strike the correct pose, the students join the ranks of judges. For a shorter game, the teacher can assign waves of students to compete against each other while the non participating students act as judges.Slide19
