1 POSITION TITLE: Adult Education –
POSITION TITLE: Adult Education – PIVA Instructor — (Part - time ) QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s d egree in Education or related field with experience in Adult Education. Demonstrate knowledge, skills and abilities of Adult Education policies, procedures and instruction . Knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment appropriate for instructing adult learners in obtaining a GED ® , Career Readiness Certificate, and Digital Literacy credentials. Must demonstrate a commitment and ability to serve a diverse community, including low - income families and English language learners. Self - motivated and able to work at a standalone satellite site. Ability to manage and main tain a professional classroom, providing instruction to adult participants whose basic skills are below the twelfth grade level. Possess working skills in the use of technology to deliver Distance Education instruction, communicate via e - mail and teach basic computer skills to the ad ult learner. Maintain TABE and Assessment Policy certifications as mandated by VDOE. Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with specialists, program managers, school administration, and business/community partner agencies. Strong Math and Science background preferred . PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS: Plan s and implemen ts instructional activities for a cohort of adult learners preparing for a GED ® , Career Readiness Certificate (CRC), Dig ital Literacy, professional soft - skill credentials and an industry certification at an accelerated pace in partnership with the Virginia Community College System. Administer s assessments in accordance with vendor guidelines and VADOE policies. Collaborate s with community college staff to plan a contextualized curriculum. D evelop s program timeline and weekly instructional schedule for learner persistence and capstone project. Maintains accurate data and student records using the VADOE Adult Student Profil e Document (ASPD). Performs related work as assigned . GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK: Duties performed typically in a school setting. Work requires frequent standing, sitting, walking and light lifting up to 10 pounds. Effective verbal and written communication skills for expressing or exchanging ideas, hearing to perceive information at a normal spoken word level and visual acuity for preparing and analyzing written or computer data. REPORTS TO: Regional Program Manager PAY SCHEDULE: Non - contracted LENGTH OF CONTRACT: Temporary / Can be terminated at any time by Richmond Public Schools FLSA: Non - exempt
