Addressed in this program, are vehicle design considerations, weight distribution hazards, payloads, strength points, and special hazard considerations. The course teaches the student how to assess, stabilize, and access vehicles of greater size and weight. Students will learn how to address special resource needs encountered during extrication emergencies. RAMP PROGRAM (PLCB) FSC 9219.001 CLASS IS ON SATURDAY AM (3HR CLASS) PREREQUISITES: 21 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER FIRST DAY OF CLASS GEAR: NONE RAMP Server/Seller Training consists of training for a licensee’s alcohol service staff ( this includes anyone who serves alcoholic beverages and / or checks IDs.) All Alcohol service personnel hired after August 8, 2016, who are not RAMP server / seller trained, must be RAMP server / seller trained within six months of being hired. Employees who are not currently considered alcohol service personnel but are transferred into an alcohol server/seller trained within six months of assuming their new duties. Any existing and newly-hired alcohol service personnel who are currently RAMP server/seller trained must be retrained when their training expires. All cashiers selling wine at an establishment with a wine expanded permit must be RAMP server/seller trained. Topics will include general vehicle rescue function/operation; incident management of the vehicle accident/rescue incident; vehicle anatomy, design, and construction; recognition and control of hazards relative to a vehicle accident/rescue incident; and the tools and equipment used at a vehicle accident/rescue incidentFIRST CONTACT TO THE COMMUNITY REPORT- THE ISO COMMUNITY SURVEY FSC 1901.007 This class is intended for all fire service personnel and community officials. It is an overall review of the process of surveying a community’s fire suppression capabilities as it will apply to property insurance for commercial and residential properties. It starts from the first contact to the community by the ISO Field Representative (FR). It then reviews what occurs during the pre-survey phase-assisting with preparing the community for a survey. The training will discuss what the FR will be reviewing and the meetings that will occur. There will be an overview of the Fire Suppression Rating Schedule and associated documents and, finally, what happens after the FR leaves. The process of publishing the grading through our National Processing Center and the community report will also be discussed. WINCH OPERATIONS FSC 590.001 CLASS IS ON SATURDAY AM (4HR CLASS) PREREQUISITES: 14 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER FIRST DAY OF CLASS GEAR: NONE Through lecture and hands-on integrated training exercises, this course will assist the student with safe and effective operation of a winch. Key safety elements will provide risk reduction strategies for maintaining a safe and effective rescue ground. This course was developed for rescue/extrication personnel exposed to winch operations for the purpose of recovery and stabilization. This course is an awareness level course intended for fire and rescue personnel to provide them the ability to function, accurately, safely, and effectively during rescue incidents involving this mode of public transportation. Topics include: pre-incident planning, hazard as-sessment and size-up, resource considerations, equipment identification, and lockout/tagout procedures. This course will provide some of the techniques to successful recruitment and retention programs that have shown a proven track record. SURFACE ICE RESCUE AWARENESS (SIRA) 0447.001 CLASS IS ON SATURDAY PM (2.5HR CLASS) PREREQUISITES: 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER FIRST DAY OF CLASS GEAR: NONE To goal of this program is to provide the student with the initial necessary knowledge for responding to ice immersion emergencies. Surface Ice Rescue Awareness will provide the student with the knowledge to size up an ice immersion emergency, provide for rescuer safety, provide site control and scene management and determine the necessary additional resources needed to mitigate the emergency. Surface Ice Rescue Awareness will assist an organization with becoming NFPA 1670 compliant with Ice Rescue Awareness. WATER RESCUE AWARENESS (WRFRA) FSC 0580.001 CLASS IS ON SATURDAY AM (3HR CLASS) PREREQUISITES: 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER FIRST DAY OF CLASS GEAR: NONE This program discusses the characteristics of water-related emergencies and the health and safety risks to First Responders. This program addresses the common hazards associated with water rescue emergencies, as well as, the First Responder’s initial role, on-scene responsibilities, and Responder limitations. This course will assist to increase the First Responder’s ability to maintain scene/rescuer safety and control. During this program, students are introduced to important safety procedures related to weather exposure and physiological conditions, near drowning, personal protective equipment, including PFD (Personal Floatation Devices), and initial action plan development for water rescue emergencies will also be presented in this program. SOLAR PANEL AWARENESS FOR THE FIRE SERVICE FSC 0381.001 CLASS IS ON SUNDAY PM (4 HRS) Description: This 4 hour course is intended for Emergency Responders, as well as, other private or municipal agencies. This course is an awareness level program cover-ing system types, code compliant installations, associated hazards, and safe work practices near solar PV systems. The course will introduce students to solar PV sys-tem operation, components, design and recommended practices. COURSE OFFERINGS FLASHOVER RECOGNITION AND SURVIVAL IS A PA STATE FIRE ACDEMY ON THE ROAD PROGRAM. STUDENTS WILL EARN A CLASS CERTIFICATE FROM THE PSFA There will be two (2) offerings for this program, FSC 900.001 Saturday March 14, 2020 FSC 900.002 Sunday March 15, 2020 There is an additional 65.00 Lab Fee for this class that must be paid at the time of registration. – is an 8-hour course designed to give the student the practical knowledge required to recognize and under-stand the phenomena called “flashover”, how to identify “pre-flashover” con-ditions and deal with these conditions in a safe and controlled manner. The ultimate outcome is to avoid firefighters from becoming victims of this violent phenomenon. Two live fire evolutions inside the simulator are required for successful completion of this course. This course is for firefighters who are members of a RIT, and tasked with extrication responsibilities during structure fires. Included in this course: RIT Team roles and responsibilities, evaluation of case studies, function during suppression activities, lifting and moving techniques, extrication support needs, team building skills, and size-up techniques and structure layout. The fire fighter will also participate in “live” scenario based evaluations involving a down/trapped firefighter. INCIDENT SAFETY OFFICER CLASS (ISO) FSC 108.001 Class is on Saturday and Sunday PM (16 hr Class) PREREQUISITES: 18YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER FIRST DAY OF CLASS GEAR: NONE The Safety Officer’s responsibilities fall into two clear cut categories: those associated with responding at the incident scene, and those associated with managing the day to day affairs of the department. The Incident Safety Officer (ISO) course is focused on the incident and the role the Safety Officer plays as part of the Command Staff. The target audience is Company Officers (CO) who are experienced in firefighter safety issues and are familiar with an Incident Command System, hazardous materials management, and related emergency operations. The program provides the student with the decision-making process and skills required to recognize unsafe acts and conditions and take appropriate corrective actions. ARSON DETECTION FOR THE FIRST RESPONDER (ADFR) FSC 0734.001 Class is on Saturday and Sunday PM (16 hr Class) PREREQUISITES: 18YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER FIRST DAY OF CLASS GEAR: NONE The course covers topics which fire suppression personnel must be familiar with in order to facilitate origin and cause determination and possible subsequent investigation of intentionally set fires.
