The proposed revision updates language and has been reviewed by legal counsel and Mucia Burke , Board Vice President Robert LeFev re , Associate Superintendent Lisa Small , Director of Administrative Services Matthew Hildebrand he Superintendent Kathe Lingl. Additional Information: The Board of Education reviewed the proposed policy revision at its meeting on June 16. That Board policy file: JECE Student Withdrawal from School be revised as proposed and included in the Board Policy manual; further, that the Superintendent be directed to make appropriate distribution. ard of Education authorizes the administration, by and through its Superintendent, to 12 accept the voluntary withdrawal of students where such students are to be charged with a 13 discipline violation for which the administration would recommend that the student be expelled. 14 Such withdrawal may be for a period not to exceed two - calendar years if such student is 15 provided an alternate school education program or a program in accordance with Article 13A of 16 the School Code. However, if no alternative school program is provided and such withdrawal 17 would exceed 2¼ semesters in length, the administration will not accept the voluntary 18 withdrawal of a student, but shall require an expulsion hearing in accordance with School Board 19 policies and Section 10 - 22.6 of th e School Code. 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 36 37 38 39 Approved by Board of Education: October 24, 1996 40 41 42 43 44 6 - 6 - 16 4
