KNOWLEDGE BASEContact your local BDI branch for more information on conveying products and other BDI Solutions. The bakery has eliminated the tab breakage on its modular belt, and the Nolu-S is showing considerably less wear than the UHMW had previously. They have replaced 2000 feet of UHMW bar cap in the spiral cooler with the Nolu-SR and have documented a 45% decrease friction. They have also noticed much less belt wear using the Nolu-SR. The troubling issues of breakage, downtime and lost production have essentially been eliminated.Total Signed Cost Savings at the Bakery = $24,122.28 annually!SUCCESS MADE EASIER:BDI recommended that the bakery try System Plast’s Nolu plastics product line, which features UHMW impregnated solid lubricants to reduce friction. For the guide rail, they applied Nolu-S. In the spiral freezer, Nolu-SR was used.THE SOLUTION:PROBLEMExcessive wear and tab breakage on a modular belt was causing major headaches for a loyal BDI bakery customer. The standard UHMW wear strip used by the bakery for years wasn’t quite holding up to standards. The bakery was also experiencing friction, breakage and wear on a bar cap in its spiral cooler. The breakage and resulting downtime occurred about every eight months. Losses in each instance included three loads of spoiled dough and two hours of productivity for 48 employees.Eastern Iowa Bakery Discovers the Nolu® Plastics Product Family
