9. OperationElectrode Steam HumidifierFooter

10. Principle of OperationWhat affects amperage draw?Water conductivitySupplied locallyIncreases as water boilsDrains requiredSurface area of electrodesNumber and shape of electrodesLevel of electrode immersionFill = moreBoil = lessDrain = lessScale coverage = lessPrinciples of OperationOperationFooter

11. When there’s a humidity required in air stream, the contactor closes & passes the electricityContactor draws the amperage and it activate the fill valve or Drain valveWater travel up in the 1” open-air gap and comes down to the humidifier Water goes inside the tank from the bottom. High water sensor activates as soon as the tank is full.Supplied electricity will boil the water and produce steamFillingOperationFooter

12. Draining starts with energizing the fill valve first followed by the drain valve. As a result, the water goes inside the drain canal is a mixture of cold water (from fill valve) & hot water (from the tank).Max water temperature at this stage would be 140°F (60°C) which compliant with the local plumbing code.DrainingOperationFooter

13. Principle of OperationBoil down cycle – starts at high amp trigger (fill OFF amps), ends at low trigger (fill ON )Humidifier output is the mean amp draw over the boil cycleT-optimal: optimal time for one boil down cycleT-measured: actual measured time for one boil down cycleT-drain: calculated drain timeTOptimalTOptimalTOptimalTDrainDrainTMeasuredTMeasuredMean Amp Draw (Output)Fill Off AmpsFill On AmpsTMeasuredAuto Adaptive CycleOperationFooter

19. Installation – RMBP PowerPower kits will be available so that power for a Remote Mounted Blower Pack can be supplied by humidifierEX: new install with a 440-480V/3~ humidifier and a 120V/1~ RMBPPower kit would provide transformer, fusing, and terminal block inside humidifierAlternatively, can supply separate 120V to RMBPRetrofits would have an “external TX kit”Existing mains supply to where old RMBP used to reside is where external kit would resideRMBP PowerInstallationFooter

20. Installation – Water Connections Min. 7/8” OD drain line.Keep as short as possible.Slope down to floor drainor main drain.Increase size if combiningmultiple drains as in double unit.1.2” (30 mm) ODun-threaded outletwith factory suppliedbent hose and clamp.Air gap required.2-1/2” to 7/8” copperreducer is ideal. Hose must not touchbottom of funnel.Always install a watershut-off valve.1/2” NPTUse union to connectsupply pipe to unit.*Pipe and water shut-off valve not supplied by NORTEC.Water ConnectionsInstallationFooter

21. Installation – Electrical Connections Mains power must have an external disconnect (circuit breaker)Wired into high voltage terminal block inside electrical cabinetryElectrical ConnectionsInstallationFooter

24. CylindersMaintenanceCylinders are disposable and can be used up the certain number of hours.Typically, the cylinders can be used between 500-2000 hours at full capacity. If the usage is half of what the cylinder is capable of, the life expectancy will be double (approx. 4000 hrs.)The life expectancy will also depend on the water quality (grains/gallon of hardness). Footer

25. ValvesMaintenanceAfter certain number of hours, change the cylinder as it will collect & build up the scale inside of it.Cleaning the drain valve & plunger whenever replacing the cylinder as a part of maintenance. Drain valve & fill valve should last for 3 to 5 years. Footer

26. MaintenanceThe “Service Blue Book” provides the breakdown of each components/parts and how often they need to be checked/replaced. Footer
