Benefits of Commercial Crew  3Regular and Reliable TransportationCommercial crew spacecraft will offer regular, reliable crew transportation to and from the International Space Station returning human launches to the United States since the retirement of the space shuttleParallel PathThe agency’s work to turn over low-Earth orbit astronaut transportation to commercial companies, like Boeing and SpaceX, allows NASA to use other resources to develop the Orion spacecraft and Space Launch System rocket for Artemis missions to the Moon and on to Mars Microgravity ResearchThese integrated spacecraft and launch vehicles will carry up to four astronauts at a time on NASA missions, with the goal of helping maintain a crew of seven to increase scientific research time on the one-of-a-kind orbiting laboratory

NASA CCP Engineering Roles & ResponsibilitiesWhen issues occur on Commercial Provider spacecraft or launch vehicles, this general process is to be used by the MST for CCP evaluation and risk discussion: Issue identified:Warning - Alarm - Caution - Off-nominal condition Pull data on the failure and other systems that could provide clues to what the exact failure is Consider and report any known associated issues specific to this vehicleReference schematic of the system and assess interactions with other systemsLocate CAD of hardware, wiring, etc. as required for clarity/understandingResearch Qualification and ATP data – were there issues in ATP or Qual. Address applicable Flight Rules/LCCs and operational impacts Address ISS Joint Ops impacts – is this an issue for ISS or not?
