WAIVER APPLICATION PACKET DocumentSchool District Name Lebo Waverly USD 243 This assurances document needs to be returned to KSDE with your request to waive attendance requirements and your continuous learning plan no later than Wednesday April 8, 2020, to indicate that the district will adopt a plan to ensure continuous learning for all students through the remainder of the 2019 - 2020 school year. USD 243 hereby assures the Kansas State Board of Education it will fol low the requirements for a Continuous Learning Plan for the remainder of the 2019 - 2020 school year: 1. USD 243 assures the State Board that it will develop a continuous learning plan that will meet the Kansas requirement for a waiver of the minimum requiremen t of 1,116 hours of school. 2. USD 243 assures the State Board that it will pay all current hourly employ during the balance of the 2019 - 2020 school year.based on the plan developed and approved by the local Board of Education. 3.

USD 243 assures the State Board that it will enroll all new students according to the state statute and the school district's enrollment policies and provide an educational plan for all new students for the duration of the 2019 - 2020 sc year. 5. USD 243 assures the State Board that it will apply a health and safety policy limiting th e opportunity for students, staff and families to be exposed to potenti pathogens that could lead to illness. The USD 243 Professional Development Plan began with the relecJse of the Guidance Document to schools by KSDE. Upon receipt USD 243 shared the guidance document wit h a l l s t a ff . Mr . There were parameters placed that stipulate No Face to Face contact by anyone, There will be limited access to school facilities, and safety of everyone is to be Priority #1. Please describe how you will ensure continuous learning is available for every student. USD 243 Teachers and Support Staff have been asked to make personal contact with each student via telephone or online to establish initial contact with families. District patrons were surveyed, and a district needs assessment was developed. The USD 243 tec hnology team has distributed electronic devices to all students in need. To ensure all families have WIFI, USD 243 ordered cellular hotspots to loan to families in need. The USD 243 Technology Team is working together to ensure that every person associated with teaching and learning have the resources necessary to provide continuous learning to as many patrons as possible via our plan. The Continuous Learning process began on Monday March 30th. Online learning is the foundation of the USD 243 Continuous L earning Plan. Lebo and Waverly have streamlined our online processes to roll out a format that is simple, straightforward, and is proving to be very effective for our district students and staff. All Lebo and Waverly Elementary School teachers K - 5 are now using Google Classroom. PreK is using See Saw and a private Facebook page. PreK classes also utilize Tadpoles as part of their daily routine. See Saw is the primary method of instructional delivery for our early childhood and early elementary classes. Al l PK - 12th grade students will receive instruction online. No instructional packets will be used. PK - 5 are using 8 different virtual platforms to push out videos and online personal instruction. The list of virtual platforms is long and distinguis

hed and i ncludes Facebook, Tadpoles, See Saw, Google Classroom, Remind, Class tag, Marco Polo, Dojo, Gmail, Google Meet, Google Hangouts, and i - station. Junior High and High School students primarily utilize Google Classroom to instruct, share videos, and exchange assignments. USD #243 will utilize the Google suite of programs that our students are already familiar with. District staff have trained to use Google Suite for several years as a staple means of communication within our schools. Google classroom is util ized for the delivery of instruction and exchange of assignments. Google hangouts will be used by staff and students for direct instruction. The fore mentioned programs and apps are currently being utilized to provide continuous learning. The Lebo Waverly School District is progressive, adaptable, and highly effective. It is our purpose to broaden our abilities and continuously grow our skills relative the educational needs of our students . Will online learning be used? Online Learning is the foundation of our Continuous Learning Plan. We have streamlined our process to roll out a format that is very simple and very straightforward. If so, is tech support available for families and teachers? USD #243 has two technology support specialist that have been an integral part in the development of our continuous learning plan. A district survey has been collected and devises are being distributed for student use from their remote access. Please describe additional measures you will take to support students with dis

abilities, and students served under Title Programs (ELL, Migrant , etc.). Special Education and Title 1.Teachers have met along with all other staff as part of our Continuous Learning Plan Development. All support staff will be collaborating to determine individual student needs and to work together to meet those needs. How will teachers check - in with students? Teacher will use telephone and internet to check in. Most Teachers and Students will meet daily via Google Classroom or other electronic platforms. Describe your plans for continued Career and Technical Education . Career and Technical Education Teachers will maintain contact with students while working with Core Teachers and Support Staff to integrate and weave Technical Education into the Continuous Learning Plan Process. Do you have a plan in place to address graduation for seniors? Seniors are on track to receive their diploma. Several students are finishing college and technical college coursework. Teachers are working to provide the essential credits necessary for all of USD 243 Seniors to graduate on time with their class. We have not planned a ceremony for Seniors at this time but, I assure you that we will certainly provide a meaningful ceremony to celebrate this years's Senior Class' accomplishements. Social and Em otional Supports How will you utilize counselors and social workers? USD 243 does not employ Social Workers. Counselors are in place to support student's Social Emotional needs. Counselors are planning to deliver guidance lessons for students while check ing in. with individual students that we know are in need of care. Also, Counselors are continuing to support students' post secondary and college planning. Student Social Emotional needs are being supported by USD 243 School Counselors, Student Support Specialist, Mental Health Services as needed or already receiving, Student's Tea hers, and Administrative Staff. How will you engage families and caregivers in supporting the social - emotional needs of their children? The Distict will utilize strong lines of communication both ways to support families in order to meet the Social Emotional needs of our students. Family Community Communication How will you keep families informed? Families will be informed by communication using multiple layers of processes. We use Telephone, internet, e - mail,, and mass communication systems to share information daily. Parents have access to contact individuals through the same processes·. Each staf f member keeps office hours. USO 243 staff have reached out to and made themselves available to families at any time day or night. How will you collect feedback from families? USO 243 has used several methods to maintain contact with families. Families ar e able to provide feedback to their teachers and administrative staff via several methods. Staff are available by telephone, internet, and e - mail. The USO 243 District Office telephones are manned daily Monday through Friday from 7:00 am until 4:00 pm. Pri ncipals meet weekly with assigned grade bands to discuss matters relevant to our Continuous Learning Plan. How will you evaluate the validity of the feedback and respond? All feedback is accepted graciously. We are always glad to hear the thoughts and opinions of staff, sudents, and patrons. The staff at USO 243 is aware that we cannot please everyone all the time. We know that we have limits to the things we are attempting to accompli

The plan for USD 243 is to continue to meet on a regular basis. Our hope is to make adjustments as needed to meet the needs of students and families. Our plan isto receive feedback and make adjustments as necessary, to become more effective educators as we work through a fluid and ever - changing situation. Please describe the measures you will take in collaboration with your local county health department to protect the health and safety of students, staff and families. Lebo Waverly USD 243 is focused on Saf ety first. We are in constant contact with our local Health Department. The welfare of our students, staff, and patrons is priority #1. USD 243 is taking extreme measures to protect all stakeholders. If we are to make an error, it will be on the side of ca ution. All buildings have been sanitized.
