In 1983, with dreams of raising their young family on a farm, Tony and Herta Peju bought thirty acres of vines in the famed Rutherford district of the Napa Valley. Since then, the Peju family has maintained a meticulous focus on the land, fostering sustainable and environmental consciousness across their ve estates. Still family-owned and operated with daughters Lisa and Ariana at the helm, Peju Winery is an integral piece of the Napa Valley landscape. VINTAGE e 2018 growing season began with abundant rains in February, followed by lots of ltered light in spring and early summer. Both bud break and owering occurred a bit late, but under ideal weather conditions, creating plentiful and even fruit set. Summer brought generous sun during the day and cooler marine in uences, virtually uninterrupted by major heat spikes. e relatively mild summer followed by extended fall sunshine and moderate heat created near-ideal conditions to allow fruit to accumulate avor complexity with gradual increases in sugar levels. WINEMAKING Blending is the ultimate expression of winemaking. Although Province is intended to be a fun and versatile wine, quite a bit of nesse is required to yield the nal blend. Slightly more than half of this proprietary blend is comprised of 2018 vintage white varietals with the balance of the pro le determined by the addition of barrel aged reds. TASTING A Peju favorite, this red and white blend presents aromatic characters of watermelon, cranberry and white nectarine infused with subtle notes of cherry and persimmon. e palate introduces cranberry, strawberry-rhubarb pie with a touch of baking spice on the nish and soft tannins. is unique chilled blend is perfect for barbecues, lazy Sundays, anksgiving dinner or any occasion when red wine seems like too much and white wine not quite enough.
