PRODUCT DESCRIPTION Osrel Bitu - Coat is a fast drying solvent based bituminous paint which complies with Bri�sh Standard 3416͗Type 1 and Type 2͘ Osrel Bitu - Coat is suitable for applica�on onto most substrates͕ especially concrete and steel͘ It can be used in contact with potable water͘ APPLICATIONS Osrel Bitu - Coat provides an e�ec�ve waterproof͕ weath- erproof͕ corrosion resistant protec�ve coa�ng͘ It is re- sistant to low concentra�ons of alkalis and acids and can withstand prolonged oxida�on͘ It is suitable for applica- �on to a wide variety of materials including iron and steel͕ lead͕ zinc͕ aluminium͕ asbestos - cement͕ concrete͕ stone and brick͘ BENEFITS • Protec�on of concrete structures against ground wa- ter and mild sulphate a�ack͘ • Metal produc�on — corrugated iron sheds͕ �re es- capes͕ stairways͕ ladders͕ storage tanks͕ gu�ers͕ down pipes͕ fences͕ railings͕ gates etc͘ • Protec�ng drinking water tanks ͘ • A protec�ve coa�ng for concrete structures͕ stone͕ brick͕ concrete screeds and sand͘ • Coa�ng of surfaces in contact with potable water ͘ PROPERTIES ADDITION RATES 1 litre will give a coverage rate of approx͘ 8 — 10 m ² on a smooth concrete surface͘ Osrel Bitu - Coat should be applied by brush͘ A second coat can be applied by roller once the �rst coat is dry͘ STANDARDS Osrel Bitu - Coat meets the requirements of BS 3416͗Type 1 & Type II͘ (Speci�ca�on for bitumen based coa�ngs for cold applica�on͕ suitable for use in contact with potable water͘ Appearance͗ Black͕ shiny coa�ng when dry Coverage͗ Onto metal and smooth surfaces 10m ²/ litre Viscosity͗ Brook�eld spindle 2͕ speed 20͕ direct reading 15 — 40 @ 20°C Solids content͗ 54 +/ - 2% by weight Speci�c Gravity͗ 0͘92 g/cm ³ So�ening point of base bitumen͗ 80 — 90 °C Service temp͗ - 30 — 70 °C Flashpoint͗ 38°C OSREL BITU - COAT Bitumen Paint for Concrete and Steel surfaces STORAGE Osrel Bitu - Coat should be protected from extreme tem- perature͕ frost and direct sunlight͕ storage life is inde�- nite in �ghtly sealed͕ undamaged containers͘ :ANDLING Osrel Bitu - Coat is solvent based and can give o� an in- �ammable vapour͘ The solvent may have a narco�c e�ect if inhaled or absorbed through the skin͘ The fol- lowing precau�ons are therefore advised when using͘ • When working with the product͕ and un�l it has dried͕ ensure the area is well ven�lated͕ thereby avoiding build up of solvent vapour͘ • Wear the correct protec�
