Project overview
My project involves GeoTagging of all Signs/Signboards in
nine
parks in Fox Valley Park District (FVPD) of Aurora and create Signs/Signboard Inventory.
This
inventory will consist of the pictures of the various Sign/Signboard/Sign, their GPS Coordinates, short description about material and its condition.
Captured information will be stored in online file storage and also documented in MS Excel/Spreadsheet.
The
inventory signs would include all sign board in the park such as information, direction, rules, Soccer Goal sign, Parking Signs, Handicap Signs, restroom sign, etc.
Provided Signs/Signboard Inventory will be uploaded by FVPD Geographic Information System (GIS) Team into their Park asset layers in their GIS application from ESRI Software.
This data will
be used in FVPD work orders, asset management system, in online resource website for public access and various other ways. Slide3

Project benefits
Sign Inventory is part of FVPD asset management initiative.
This
project would be beneficial for the Fox Valley Park District in many ways, it will help with the management and maintenance of park signs and keep them up-to-date.
Park
rangers or maintenance workers wouldn’t have to look for the signs when they go to check on them; instead they can use ESRI Software integrated handheld device go to the exact GPS location and see the sign.
Another
benefit of inventory of signs is, it helps in marketing and advertisement.
Typically
FPVD personnel does this task using $2000 ESRI Software enabled handheld device which cost FVPD lot of money and time, with Scouts and I doing this project will save money as well tax dollars.Slide5
