Slide3Coaching Approach
Internal focus - Teacher
Coaching may start at the personal level - with what a teacher wants to change, learn or help a student with.
External Focus -
School or District
After some data analysis a school or district may choose to focus on a specific instructional practice, a group of underserved students, etc.

Slide15Maximize DataZone as a Coach
Data Reflection
Review data across grades, teachers, contents to identify trends, opportunities, or bright spots in student learning (comparison dashboards by subject, by year, by demographic, etc.). Also, side-by-side data reflection with teacher/teams.
Articulation of Goals
Dashboards and metrics can help quickly pinpoint the data for goal setting (i.e. “Currently, 46% of 4th graders met standard on SBA ELA”). This can be done at the school level or grade level, classroom/teacher level, or student level.
Progress Monitoring and Tracking
Track student progress via benchmark/local assessments loaded into DataZone. Compare historical data for student and monitor other key data points for clues and signs of coaching impact.
