Ahmad, and I was born and raised in Reno , Nevada. Through out my time in Washoe Count y School District, I attended four elementary schools during pre kinder garten to sixth grade, one middle school, and one high school. Today, I humbly ask to be app o inted to the Washoe County School District Board of Trustees District D for the following reasons. 1. Why are you interested in serving on the WCSD Board of Trustees? I am interest ed in ser ving on the WCSD Board of Tr ust ees be cause of the C OVID - 19 Pandemic. In short, though I returne d to Nevada t wo and a half years ago and proceed ed lobbying work, focusing on education policy. Through that time, I was able to hel p p ass the pupil - centered funding p lan an d direct new funds to

education to support our ed ucators. Over the 81 st Legislative Session, it became clear to me that our students and educators need lea dership from the school board level to address learning loss, implement w ha t should not controver sial policies to teach history, and of cou rse to implement the pupil - center ed funding plan. Additionall y, as we move forward from the pandemic, we have to acknowledge that not every student is bo und for college ; but instead, can be bound to one of the amazing opportunities our state offers ( e.g., vocational and certificat ion required jobs). I want to work with the business in dustr y to implement robust CTE programs that will support our student ’s having a future. As some one who does not have a child in WCSD but graduated and volunteer ed (registered high school seniors to vote), I have a perspective that is purely policy based and a vested interest in making sure our future ( al so known as our students) are equipped with the tools they need to

be pro duct ive members of society. 2. What experience, interests, training, or other skills do you feel you would bring to the WCSD Board of Trustees? Though I am a registered Democr at, I know how to work across t he aisle and to ensure that every stakeholder feels hea r d and that effective policie s are implemente d. I feel that we need someone with my background in policy and history of working across the aisle to de - politici ze the board to put our students first. A dditionally, because I work for a non - affiliated teache rs ’ association, I do not have a conflict of interest but an understanding th at our teachers need to be supported, that means that we must fully implement AB266 ( the change s to the NEPF) and do everything we can to allow our teacher s to teach. Lastly, I have a strong understand ing of the state leg islation that was recently passed and in existence to ensure that the board can oversee the school district in the most student and teacher centered manner. Lastly

, because I have an extensive experi ence in politics, I have a tough skin and can handle the stress of this position. 3. What is the role of a WCSD Trustee? Th e WCSD Tr us tees have many roles, but above all the role of a Trustee is to govern the Washoe County School District , while guarding and s t ewarding the district’s values, mission, and resour ces to support our most important commodity, our students ’ futures. As of la te, the ro le of a Trustee in both larger school districts ha s been convoluted and politici zed to the point where the gove rnin g of our school district s is becoming increasingly diffic u lt. I feel that I have the skills and knowledge necessary to push passed the pol itics a nd e nsure that the operations of the school district are seamless as we go back to 100% full - time , in - p erson learning. Additionally, due to the pandemic, the school board now has an implicit duty to provide wrap around services, and catego rical services that are no longer
