More to health

than not being sick

The Europeans who came to settle North America found it vast and unexplored. "Self-reliant" was the watchword, and the scout, the mountain man or pioneer, with his axe and rifle over his shoulder, became the national

hero.

This chosen isolation did strange things to people. Occasionally, photographers went out to record life on the frontier and returned with photographs of weird men, wild-eyed women, and haunted-looking children

Four families living together, sharing life and death, joy and sorrow, abundance and want, had a good chance of making it.. Slide4

Ephesians

4:11-16

He (Jesus) is the one who gave these gifts to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers.

Their responsibility is to equip God's people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ,

until

we come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God's

Son.Slide5

that

we will be mature and full grown in the Lord, measuring up to the full stature of Christ. ...

…Under

his direction, the whole body is fitted together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of

love.

Colossians

3:16

Let the words of Christ, in all their richness, live in your hearts and make you wise.

Use His

words to teach and counsel each other

Slide7

Hebrews

10:24-25

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,

not

neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing

near.

Slide8

Hebrews

3:12-14

Make sure that your own hearts are not evil and unbelieving, turning you away from the living God. You

must warn each other every day, as long as it is called “today,” so that none of you will be deceived by sin and hardened against God.

For

if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ. Slide9

In the environment of

ambition and

the

desire to establish

oneself,

there is the greater likelihood of compromise. The desire to establish a

career..

might make it easier

to

turn one’s head in the moment of an unethical decision or to ignore an injustice being done to a fellow worker.. Pressure mounts and a person finds it much easier to take the first

toward

choices and decisions never before thought possible. These are just a few reasons why young adults badly need mentors or sponsors, older couples who come alongside and offer supportive wisdom, encouragement and models of godly behavior. Young adults can thrive in these difficult environments when they renounce the youthful tendency to want to go it alone and seek relationships providing guidance and accountability

Questions can make hermits out of us, driving us into hiding. Yet the cave has no answers. Christ distributes courage through community; he dissipates doubts through fellowship. He never deposits all knowledge in one person but distributes pieces of the jigsaw puzzle to many. When you interlock your understanding with mine, and we share our discoveries, when we mix, mingle, confess and pray, Christ speaks. And that’s what make it all worthwhile
