land you are entering to take over is not like the land of Egypt, from which you have come, where you planted your seed and irrigated it by foot as in a vegetable garden.Slide8
What is the Promise Land
Deuteronomy

.Slide9
What is the Promise Land
Deuteronomy 11:12
It is a land the LORD your God cares for…
…
the eyes of the LORD your God are continually on it from the beginning of the year to its end.Slide10
Reaching the Promise land won’t be easy
Since the time of Moses, God has given a promise to the Israelite but it took the Israelites 40 years before reaching the promise land.
Exodus 13:17
17
When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them on the road through the Philistine country, though that was shorter … For God said, “if they face war, they might change their minds
&
return to Egypt.”Slide11Slide12
Reflection: It’s not about the destination, it’s the journey.
It’s not about the promise land it’s about the walk with God.Slide13
Illustration of walk with God: Climbing the Mt. EverestSlide14
Reason why God allowed the Israelites to undergo challenges
So that they may know that He is their God.
Exodus 6:7

I will take you to be my people, and I will be your God, and you shall know that I am the
Lord
your God, who has brought you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.Slide15
Why God allows and will allow us to experience challenges this 2016
That we may know God and that we may understand that we belong to him. Slide16

After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, the Lord said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ aide: 2 “Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them—to the Israelites. 3 I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses. 4 Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates—all the Hittite country—to the Mediterranean Sea in the west. Slide18
5 No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.

Deuteronomy 1:29-31
29 Then I said to you, “Do not be terrified; do not be afraid of them. 30 The Lord your God, who is going before you, will fight for you, as he did for you in Egypt, before your very eyes, 31 and in the wilderness. There you saw how the Lord your God carried you,
as a father carries his son
, all the way you went until you reached this place.”Slide29
