The Wilson Bank and Trust SMSGuardian is a tool that gen erates text message alerts when you conduct certain types of transactions using your debit card. This provides quick and proactive notification of potentially fraudulent transactions taking place on the card. Is this service available to all customers? A ll customers that have a debit card may enroll in the service. However, you should educate yourself on the details of the program by reading this document in its entirety before signing up. It is imperative that you understand what types of alerts you will receive and for what reasons. Failure to do so can result in a permanently blocked card for legitimate transactions. After reading this document, anyone with a Wilson Bank and Trust debit card may enroll by visiting the website located at the bottom of t his guide. How does it work? When you enroll in SMSGuardian, text messages will be sent to your cell phone when the following transaction types take place on your debit card: International transactions Authorizations greater than $200 Eight or more transactions in a 24 hour period Card not present (keyed) Declined authorizations The text will indicate the amount of the transaction and the merchant conducting it, a reply code for an unauthorized transaction, and an opt‐out code. * Standard message and data rates may apply. If you are out of the country, international rates may apply. If you receive a text message about

2 a legitimate transaction, what should y
a legitimate transaction, what should you do? If you receive a text message and it indicates a known transaction that was made or authorized, NO action needs to be taken. No response is necessary to validate transactions. If you receive a text message about a fraudulent transaction, what should you do? If you receive a text message alerting you of a fraudulent transaction, you will need to reply to the text message with the unique reply code listed in the message. Texting this reply code back to SMSGuardian will block the card and prevent future unauthorized transactions. This will not reverse the initial fraudulent charge. At t his point you should contact your local branch to file a dispute on your account. What happens to the card after a fraudulent transaction? SMSGuardian works in tandem with another product called Fraud Center. Fraud Center is a 24/7 call center that analyzes card activity to discover fraud early in the cycle. If you indicate that a transaction was fraudulent via SMSGuardian, Fraud Center will create a case and immediately put a permanent block on the card . Because of this, it is essential that you ar e absolutely sure that the transaction was indeed fraudulent. What about online purchases and automatic payments? Both online transactions and automatic payments frequently will generate a SMSGuardian alert text. This is because the payment processor for these merchants is often out of state. You should expect to receive an alert message nearly any time they make an o nline purchase with your debit card. Additionally, if you allow a business, such as a cable or phone company, to automatically bill monthly on your debit card, this will likely generate a message every time that payment is processed. For automatic payment s like those mentioned above, you should also be aware that these transactions could come in at any time. Some businesses may even process payments over

3 night. You should take note of every a
night. You should take note of every automatic payment you have tied to their debit card so that you are not alarmed when a text message is received about the resulting charge. Some businesses that process many “micro‐transactions” may total these charges and bill you at a later time. A common example of this is purchasing several songs online through iTunes or other online media stores. Apple usually sends one bill at a later date and time, rather than immediately billing each time a single item is purchased. This usually creates a delay between making an online purchase and receiving the alert text. F or example, if you buy a single song on a Monday morning and another song Tuesday afternoon, Apple may bill the card the following Thursday in the evening. In this instance, the alert text message would not be sent until the card is actually charged on Thu rsday. Can you discontinue receiving text alerts for debit card purchases? Yes, you may discontinue the alerts in two ways. The quickest way is to reply to one of the alert messages with the word “STOP.” In addition, it is possible to discontinue the ser vice by revisiting the enrollment link and entering your card information. Note that this will discontinue all future text alerts, not just the type that was replied to. Can I change when I receive alerts? Yes, you may set your local time zone and do no t disturb hours from the enrollment portal. Located on the left side of the page is a preferences tab that allows you to modify these settings. All messages generated during the do not disturb window will be delivered once the window has expired. You may u pdate this at any point by clicking the enrollment link and entering your card information. How can I enroll? Once you have read this guide and understand the reasons for receiving text message alerts, you can enroll here: https://www.cardguardian.com/CardGuardian/signon.do?fid=F
