American Medical ResponseAmerican Medical Response provides 911 emergency medical coverage for Maui County.

Contracted by the State of Hawaii

Ambulances are staffed with EMT’s and MICT’s (mobile intensive care technicians, or paramedics). MICT’s can administer drugs and are on the phone with doctors.

Over 75 MICTs and EMTs in the system.

EMT’s and MICT’s work 48 hour shifts.

AMR also provides non-emergent ambulance transport on the island of Maui.

Provides medical personnel and ambulances for standby events though out the county. Please call 800-742-5457 for more information.

Maui Fire Fighting CapabilitiesFire and Rescue Operations is the primary emergency response.

Firemen are not EMT trained, trained in first response

Staffing & Resources

Fire/Rescue Operations includes 279 personnel trained to respond to and mitigate a wide variety of emergency situations.  They are assigned to 

14 fire stations

spread throughout the county. Available resources include: 

 14   engine companies, 3  mini-pumpers,  2  ladder companies, 1  helicopter,  1  rescue company,    3  rescue boats,  1  hazardous material company,    4  personal watercraft,  4  tankers, and    11  utility vehicles
