SODE CODE OF CONDUCT The code of conduct is designed to ensure that each participant - athlete, coaches, team volunteers, day of volunteers, and family members - abides by the philosophy and the mission of the organization. SODE Code of Conduct  Respect for others - Respect the rights, dignity, and worth of all individuals involved in SODE - Treat everyone equally regardless of gender, race, ethnic origin, religion, sexual orientation, or ability.  All participants shall act with dignity and take responsibility for his/her actions - The participant’s language, manner, punctuality, preparation, and presentation will demonstrate the highest standards - The participant shall display control, respect, and dignity to all involved in Special Olympics. - The participant shall set a positive example through his/her actions and encourage others to exhibit the same qualities. - The participants shall not consume alcohol, tobacco, or illegal drugs while participating in SODE events at any level (chapter, area, etc.,) - The participant will not engage in any disruptive behavior that interferes with the rights of others or impedes the training or competition of athletes. - The participant shall abstain from abusive language, disruptive behavior (including behavior that is dangerous to self or others), and acts of violence, physical abuse and/or sexual abuse or harassment towards any SODE participant. - All participants are expected to follow the general and sport - speci�c guidelines and rules established by SODE and Special Olympics Incorporated.  Agreement - All Participants are expected to obey this Code of Conduct and any Codes of Conduct speci�c to their role in the program (i.e. athlete, coach). - The code of conduct is a general guide for the conduct of a participant and does not describe all types of good and bad behavior. - If a participant does not obey this Code of Conduct, the participant will be subject to disciplinary action as outlined in the Special Olympics Delaware Participation Policies. - A participant is to notify a member of the SODE sta� is he/she becomes aware of any person, including him/herself, who is in violation of this Code of Conduct or who is acting in any way that potentially could be harmful to a SODE participant or the organization.
