Using mute and hold If you wish to pause your conversation so that the caller cannot hear you, there are two options: mute and hold . Mute The mute button cuts off the microphone on your phone. This means that you can still hear the caller but they cannot hear you. As the caller will then have no indication that the call is still live, the mute b utton should only be used for short pauses in conversation. To mute a call:  Press the mute button  The mute button will light up red to indicate the call is muted  To turn the mute function off, press the mute button again Hold For longer pauses to your c onversation, you can place a call on hold. When a caller is on hold they will hear music which tells them that the call is still live. Your line button will flash to indicate to you that you still have a caller on hold, and you will see a pause symbol by the caller’s name/number on the screen. Placing a call on hold To place a call on hold, press the hold button . Whilst a call is on hold, you can hang up the receiver or switch off the speaker and the call will still remain on hold until you resume it. Resuming a call To resume a call which is on hold, either press the flashing line button or the resume softkey. Use the mute button for short interruptions to your call Use the hold button for longer pauses to your call The caller’s name/number will remain on screen with a pause symbol when a call is on hold To resume a call, press the flashing line button or the resume softkey
