FRIDAY (8:00am - 4:30pm) Using the Pressure - Enthalpy (P - H) Charts as a Service Tool Purpose of Seminar This seminar will provide a general overvie w of the basic pressure - enthalpy diagram. This diagram shows the various properties of the refrigerant as it travels throughout a complete cycle. Some of the properties shown include the refrigerant’s pressure, temperature, enthalpy and volume. Understa nding this chart allows a technician to understand the changes that occur to refrigerant as it travel through the various system components. This chart allows a technician to calculate a system’s mass flow rate, refrigeration capacity, heat of rejection, heat of compression and several other properties of an operating system. The chart also enables a technician to see the effect of making changes to a system. For example how does excessive suction line superheat effect the operation of a system or how do es suction line pres

sure drop effect the capacity of a system. Training Outcomes Successful students who attend this seminar will return to work with a better understanding of topics that include: 1. Basic design of the P - H diagram 2. Plotting the basic cycle using a P - H diagram 3. Reading a refrigerant’s pressure, temperature, enthalpy and volume from this chart 4. Calculating a system’s overall net refrigeration capacity 5. Calculating a system heat of rejection 6. Calculating the heat of compression 7. Calculating a system ’s mass flow rate 8. Understanding the problems associated with excessive suction line pressure drops 9. Understanding how higher discharge pressures effect the operation of a system Servicing & Troubleshooting Computer Room Air Conditioning Systems Purpose of Seminar This seminar will provide a general overview of the basic operation of computer room air conditioning systems (CRAC). It will feature the general design and operation of this equipment, as well as the common accessories used. The design and opera tion of computer room air handlers (CRAH) used with chilled water systems will also be covered. The basics of humidification and dehumidification equipment will be discussed along with their maintenance. Troubleshooting techniques will include in the disc ussion of both CRAC and CRAH systems. Training Outcomes Successful students who attend this seminar will return to work with a better understanding of topics that include: 1. Basic computer room air conditioning system terminology 2. Basic layout and design of computer room air conditioning systems 3. Basic design and operation of various computer room air conditioning systems 4. Troubleshooting of various computer room air conditioning systems and components 5. Controller operation 6. Working with proportional controlled motors & actuators 7. Methods of fan control 8. Typical alarms features 9. Interfacing with BMS systems Arthur T. Miller, CMS, Has been involved in the HVACR industry for over 35 years. He served as a field service representative for both York and Gibson products. He currently teaches at the Community College of Alleghen y County in Pittsburgh, Pa. He owns an

An Easy and Practical Approach to Air Flow, Air Distribution and Duct Design Seminar SEMINAR Description: This seminar is structured to provide attendees with real world application of technical princip les, teaching practical skills that can be applied on the job. The seminar takes a look at the areas of air flow, air distribu tion and duct design. Air flow may be the least understood in the HVAC industry, and yet on e of the most important. This s eminar will give attendees the knowledge they need to make better system decisions. Attendees will specifically lear n: how fan performance affects equipment efficiency and operation; determining practical duct design and its effect on the e quipment; and how to recognize an air - flow problem with either the fan or duct system and to determine possible solutions. SEMINAR Objectives: Seminar attendees will re turn to work with a better understanding of topics that include: • Static pressure • Cfm vs. static for fans • Can laws • Using a duct calculator • Velocity pressure • Cfm vs. static for ducts • System considerations • Cfm for heating • Total pressure • C an performance • Duct fitting considerations • Cfm for cooling • Cfm, fpm, static • Air flow instruments • Duct design considerations • Types of fans • aeasuring air flow • Load on fans WHO SHOULD ATTEND: This seminar will benefit anyone who works with air distribution systems, from design to i nstallation to service. System designers, engineers, project managers, site supervisors, installers, maintenance and repair tech nicians will find this seminar extremely valuable. Attendees come from a variety of skill levels, company sizes and job descriptions. SATURDAY CLASS (8:00am - 4:30
