II. What are some of the lines of proof relative to the personality of the Holy Spirit?
The Holy Spirit is a person because
Jesus referred to
the Holy Spirit as a person (John 14:15:26; 16:7-8, 13-15).
B. The Holy Spirit is a person because His work is to
carry on the ministry
of a person, the Lord Jesus Christ (John 14:16-17).

III. What did Jesus tell us about the Holy Spirit when He referred to Him as “the Comforter?”
A. Comfort, aid and help are part of the
nature of God
toward His creation.
God the Father is described as
the source
of and the “God of all comfort” (II Cor. 1:3-4; See also Rom. 15:5; II Th. 2:16-17; Is. 51:12; 66:13).Slide8
2. Jesus is seen as our helper and our
advocate with the Father (Luke 2:25; John 14:16; Phil. 2:1; I John 2:1).
3. The Holy Spirit is called “the
Comforter
” by Jesus (John 14:16; 26; 15:26; 16:7; See also Acts 9:31).
4. The
Word of God
or the Scripture is also to be a “comforter” to God’s people (Rom. 15:4).
5. As believers, we are to
share
this ministry one to another (II Cor. 1:4).
