Leer of Award To: Kyndrin Tenny From: Frank G. Straub, Ph.D. - Chief of Police Date: May 11, 2015 Re: Chief’s Citaon Award Kyndrin, The Spokane Police Department Technical Assistance Response Unit (TARU) has been nominated to receive the Chief’s Citaon Award. This award is intended to recognize members of a team or unit for parcipang in an incident, event, or series of events, or project which has a substanal, posive im- pact on the community or police department. It must be superior in nature and further the depart- ment’s mission and overall eecveness. When the Special Awards Commiee reviewed this nomina- on, it was clear that TARU is most deserving of this award. Kyndrin Tenny, along with members of the TARU, took over the management of SPD cell phones from City IT in the fourth quarter of 2014. One of their rst tasks was to conduct an audit of the cell phone inventory and the lines of service. From that audit, they found a number of lines that were not in use or were not necessary and were able to substanally reduce our monthly bill. In addion, Kyndrin was able to negoate with Verizon to get a refund of $16,804. TARU has gone above and beyond in providing quality service to both the line level ocers and the department as a whole. Many comments have come in regarding the responsiveness of TARU. TARU responds promptly to any and all requests including weekends and late evening and they have done a remarkable job of keeping patrol informed on updates regarding computer issues, vehicle issues, and portable radio issues. While TARU is extremely busy and inundated constantly with a myriad of re- quests, they consistently respond quickly and courteously. The level of professionalism they display is a model for the rest of the department to follow. Kyndrin, as a member of the Technical Assistance Response Unit, I am very proud to present you with the Chief’s Citaon Award. You will be recognized and presented with a plaque at our annual awards ceremony in 2016. A copy of this document will be placed in your personnel le. Frank G. Straub, Ph.D. Chief of Police
