Rural Wildfires
By James Mika Geography 1700 Slide2
As earth’s population increases, people are seeking a more relaxed lifestyle away from larger cities into highland rural areas. These rural areas can consistent of brush,
forestry, and naturally occurring wildfire landscape. People are risking property damage and human life.
Why rural wildfires are increasing over the decades?Slide3
What is the problem !
California and many other states has many rural wildfires yearly on the brush-covered hill slopes yet development keeps building homes because people are risk takers.Over the years the demand for hillside property has increased property prices in these areas. The people who are most at risk have paid a premium for that privilege. People will buy what they want and put their family in danger.
Fire Insurance and disaster assistance actually worsen the situation by making people believe the government will reimburse their losses. The home buyers will not see any reason not to live where they choose, regardless of the risk.Slide4

What is the solution!
Fire Danger Alerts and Warnings: national weather service forecast issue fire watch 12 to 72 hours in advance of extreme fire conditions to keep citizens safe and alert.
Fire Education:
community and school awareness programs teaching individuals about fire hazard.
Codes and regulations:
one way to reduce risk in fire-prone areas is to enforce building codes that require structures to be built with fire resistant materials.
Issuing bans on outdoor burning and fireworks when conditions are favorable of grass, brush, and forest fires. Slide6
My opinion vs other side!
I believe the government needs to start taking responsibility before it keeps just getting worse as the years move on.
Insurance is false hopes and needs change!
The other side are risk takers!
Insurance will cover their homes!
They have earned their pride home!Slide7
