09.15.2011 Prospective San Francisco Project Sponsors Zabe Bent – Principal Transportation Planner Summer 2011 San Francisco Transportation Plan Call for Projects As the Congestion Management Agency for San Francisco, the San Francisco County Transportation Authority (Authority) is issuing a second Call for Projects for consideration for inclusion in the update to the countywide transportation plan, the 2012 San Francisco Transportation Plan (SFTP). The Authority is updating the SFTP, San Francisco’s 25-year transportation plan that identifies goals, policies, needs and investment priorities for San Francisco’s surface transportation system, including local streets and roads, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, transit, and state highways. In February 2011 the Authority issued an initial Call for Projects for consideration in the update to the Regional Transportation Plan/Sustainable Communities Strategy (RTP/SCS) and the SFTP. In order to provide project sponsors with additional time to formulate project ideas and proposals the Authority committed to issuing a second Call for Projects in the summer of 2011. This call for projects is organized into the following sections: 1. Types of Projects to be Submitted 3. Schedule 2. Eligible Project Sponsors 4. Contact Information Attachment 1 is the Summer 2011 Call for Projects for the San Francisco Transportation Plan (SFTP) Update - Agency Project Submittal Form. Project sponsors are asked to complete the submittal form in Excel format. This survey seeks basic project information from sponsors about how each proposed project was developed, its location/limits, as well as estimated costs and assumptions that underlay the cost estimate. This basic information parallels information requested in the public call for projects on the Authority website. Completed surveys should be returned via e-mail by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 17, 2011 to William Bacon, Transportation Planner, at william.bacon@sfcta.org. All submitted projects will be considered for inclusion in the SFTP. With these four frameworks in mind agency project sponsors are asked to submit through the form in Attachment 1 up to twenty-five project ideas, in priority order. Please note which goal areas the projects may address. Public agency staff and members of the public are invited to submit project ideas to the Authority by October 17, 2011. Members of the public will nominate projects through a separate online process (available from Monday, September 19, 2011 at www.movesmartsf.com). The Authority will review project nominations submitted by members of the public and, when appropriate, coordinate with the proposed implementing agency for consideration as appropriate. The schedule for the call for projects and the remaining stages of the SFTP development process are shown in the table below. October 25, 2011 11:00 a.m. Presentation of submissions to the SFTP Technical Advisory Committee (TAC). Fall/Winter 2011/2012 Additional community outreach, draft list of projects/policies/initiatives. Winter/Spring 2012 Select preferred alternative, develop implementation strategy, outreach on preferred alternative, formal approval and adoption of the SFTP.
