Students
given writing tasks and must go through each step of the writing process presented by the site. The instructions are pre - loaded by their teachers. They go through brainstorming, pre - writing, rough draft, revision, and final draft preparatory steps. Study IslandStudents are prepared for their state assessments with questions based on their state standards.
This is basically a state testing preparation site for students in grades 2 - 8.
Depending
on the state, other grades may have resources made available to them as well.
EBSCO
This research based site is organized into different levels for kids so that when they enter, they will find grade and age appropriate materials, depending on what they are researching.
Grolier Online®
This
online encyclopedia is another source full of possibilities, but unless specifically guided by lesson or teacher instruction, students might not be as motivated to find what they are looking for. Slide4

Instructional Interactivity
Discovery Streaming™
Students are presented with multiple forms of instructional material: Video, audio, text, images, etc.
Skills TutorStudents are given a multitude of topics and categories, based on state standards, that are presented to them in both visual and audio styles. Students watch videos that demonstrate the concept and then are given the opportunity to practice problems on their own that end up in a short, formative assessment.
Math Whizz®
This resource provides a terrific amount of not only topics, but online tools students can use to practice mathematical concepts.
This
site, while some of the characters are crudely drawn, has the most interactive set of tools that students can manipulate while practicing their work.
They
are also given more difficult work as they get questions right. If they are incorrect, the program allows them to stay at their current level and practice, until they are ready to move forward.
When
finished, they are assessed and given an approximate grade age
ranking
Check My Work
This site allows students and teachers to see if there is any chance plagiarism was involved in the students' writing either prior to or after assignment submission. Slide9
