Air Force research InstituteMission: “To provide competitively

selected, highly

qualified field-grade Air Force officers and their civilian counterparts an in-depth education in national security policy through assignments to a distinguished civilian institute or placement in a key government agency or department

.”

Must be a Fellow to participate

Every year, the Air Force chooses an elite cadre of officers and civilians to serve 10- to 18-month tours within DOD, other government agencies, or distinguished civilian institutionsTo be selected you must apply and have completed the appropriate level of developmental education (DE) and have strong academic record and strong commander endorsementAs a Fellow you will participate in one of the SDE, IDE , DEBD programs listed on the handouts and complete a 5,000 word paper supervised by a sponsor and a mentor. If as a fellow you participate in a University Program you can submit a school paperCurriculum is either university directed or a “experience plan” submitted by the fellow Slide8

This center consolidates all the PME schools in one location allowing for mentoring and sharing of information across generations

Includes the Air War College, The Air Command and Staff College, the Squadron Officer College (SOS) and the International Officer School

School of advanced air and space studiesSAASS Mission

: Produce

strategists through advanced education in the art and science of air, space, and cyberspace power to defend the United States and protect its interests

SAASS is a 50-week, follow-on school for selected graduates of intermediate-level Department of Defense PME

schools (ACSC)Two main objectives: to enhance critical thinking on subjects pertaining to airpower and warfare through intensive examination of both. Secondl: to cultivate students ability to argue effectively and responsibly about airpower. These are achieved through papers written and published in a recognized standard and the ability of the student to breakdown complex ideas to a more understandable levelSlide12

SAASAdmissions

SAASS

is the most selective of all Air Force schools. Approximately five percent of those eligible to volunteer for SAASS are elected to attend. To become a SAASS student, an officer must: (1) graduate from an intermediate service school or equivalent, (2) be a volunteer, (3) possess a master's degree from an accredited institution or have an undergraduate degree with a GPA of 3.25 or higher, (4) have less than 16 years total active commissioned service, and (5) be selected by the central selection board held at the Air Force Personnel Center.Slide13

Air war collegeMission: The Air War College educates officers to serve as strategic national security leaders.

Air Forces Senior PME and is attended by Lieutenant Colonels and Colonels as well as there civilian equivalents

Focuses development of students to have significant grasp of the profession of arms and its applications in joint and multinational warfighting. Includes scenarios of

war-gamming

National Security Forum; influential individuals from the United States to discuss warfighting and other pertinent security focused

Provides training and leadership development for the Force Support Career field

Provide multi-disciplinary advanced FM education to support the warfighterOffers the DFMC (4 weeks) and DDSC (1 week in-res or requesting unit)USAF Chaplain Corps CollegeProvides education and support for professional development of chaplains and to empower the use of constitutional right of free exercise of religion Slide16

Jeanne M. Holm Center for Officer Accessions and Citizen DevelopmentMission: We

build

leaders

Produces almost 80% of all officers of the Air Force and nearly100% of the Nurses/medical, Chaplains, and Legal officers

Includes AFROTC, AFJROTC, OTS and CAP

AFROTC alone produced 1,700 new Second Lieutenant for the USAFHolm Center was developed out of restructuring to provide a more efficient and streamlined administrative reporting procedure. It was placed under HQAFOATS which has since 2008 been the Holm Center.Slide17

Thomas m. Barnes center for Enlisted educationMission: Provide

the continuum of education necessary to inspire and develop enlisted leaders with the moral framework of integrity, service and excellence

Center is composed of the Community College of the Air Force, the USAF NCO/SNCO/First Sergeant Academies and the Chief Master Sergeant Leadership Course
