BASIC PAP E R TOLE T E RMS CUTTING: Cut out each piece according to t h e guide. Be very c areful to cut ex - actly where the lines are drawn. Use s h arp sci s sors or an exa c to knife with No.11 blade. COLORING: After each piece is cut it will be white along the cut edge. Color these edges with a m a tching color m arke r . s e o nly p er m ane n t, n on - ble e d p ens. SHAPING: After each piece is cut gently shape it around the edges. This can be do n e w ith a shap i ng t o ol, o r even with your finger s . Shape in the direction th a t you want the curve to be. For inst a nce, if the piece m ust be bowed out like an apple, s h ape from the back. If the piece m ust be shaped like the inside of a bowl, shape from the front. Use even pressure so that the shaping does not leave indentat i ons on y o ur pri n t. TRACING OR ETCHIN G : W i th the p o in t ed end of the shap i ng t o ol, (or y our nails) trace the detail on the cut piece for a gr e ater effect. For instance, trace the vei n s on l eaves, o r det a il on a dre s s, such as pleats or shadows. GLUING: Use glue to el e vate your pieces to desired height while at the sa m e t i m e, place t h e g lue in such a w a y t hat it i s n o t e as i ly v i s i ble from the si d e. N o glue s h ould ever be seen from the front. Glue each piece in turn. Be careful to keep che c king your work to m ake sure the glu e d pieces have not shifte d .
