Job Description Advocate Supervisor CASA Mission for all roles within organization The mission of CASA for Kids, Inc. is to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children involved in the Washington County, PA juvenile court system. By training community volunteers to serve as fact-finders and speak for the child in court, childrens' needs are met to ensure safety and permanency in their lives. The CASA Advocate Supervisor is responsible for managing CASA volunteers and their assigned cases. As a part of their case management duties, the CASA advocate supervisor provides professional staff support to CASA volunteers ensuring that children involved with the CASA program receive sound advocacy and early permanency planning. This role is also responsible for volunteer supervision including case documentation review and coordination of cases. JOB TYPE: Full-time non-exempt 37.5 hours per week, with a 30-minute lunch, M-F CASE MANAGEMENT 1. Assume management responsibility for no less than 20 and no more than 24 active CASA cases, reviewing new cases and assigning appropriate volunteer to each case in consultation with Program Director. 2. On an “on-call basis”, be readily available and easily accessible to all CASA volunteers, providing support and assistance throughout a case. Be accessible by email and phone. 3. Prepare and distribute assignment documentation to the volunteers. 4. Review, edit and approve CASA reports and recommendations prior to sending to all court hearings. 5. Attend court hearings with CASA volunteers. Attend meetings, as necessary, with CASA volunteer. Introduce CASA volunteer to system professionals and facilitate interagency collaboration. 6. Maintain a monthly calendar of all scheduled hearings on all cases and notify CASA volunteers of upcoming hearings. 7. Upon Case closure, ensure electronic records are updated with all relevant information, collect all papers and information relating to the child/case from the CASA volunteer, prepare a “Release from Case” form and have it signed by the CASA volunteer. Store all case related records in safe keeping. 8. Participate in agency case conferences. 9. Maintain timely and thorough case records on each case and volunteer. 10. Attend critical meetings and conferences with assigned volunteers, documenting and channeling all requested information until resolution. 11. Attend, if requested, first home visits with every ne

Submit reports to Court and parties three days prior to court date. 15. Attend all assigned court hearings with volunteer, presenting information and recommendations to the parties and to the Court, in compliance with National CASA standards. VOLUNTEER SUPERVISION 1. Provide support to volunteers regarding their case including problem solving, resource information and guidance related to the child welfare system. Contact, through the system or other means, with CASA volunteer should be at least once per month and documented. 2. Supervising and guiding volunteers and making sure that the volunteer’s activities are following both the CASA mission and applicable state and federal laws and standards. 3. Supervise volunteers in preparation of court reports and recommendations and edit/revise as needed. 4. Reinforcement of confidentiality policy with every volunteer. 5. Assist with recruitment and screening of potential advocates. 6. Assist with training and orienting new volunteers. 7. Accountability to coach and develop volunteer pool. 8. Participate in evaluation of volunteer performance and periodic documentation checks. 9. Consult with appropriate service providers. 10. Assist in preparing volunteers for court testimony if necessary. PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT 1. Attend conferences and workshops as assigned in their development plan. 2. Complete required data entry into database. 3. Compiling statistics on all active cases, including outcome measurement, demographics and placements. 4. Actively participate in staff meetings and some board meetings. 5. Attend and assist with all volunteer appreciation events, in-service trainings, and other functions coordinated by CASA, 6 per year minimum. 6. Assist in public speaking, community outreach, and community committees as needed. 7. Collection and development of case success stories and challenges to be shared in monthly staff meetings. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT 1. Adhere to the program policies on dress, professional conduct and demeanor. 2. Modeling the mission as the public face of CASA. 3. QUALIFICATIONS Job Description Advocate Supervisor • Bachelor’s degree required in social service-related field and three years’ experience in child welfare system, social services, or volunteer coordination/supervision or equivalent experience. • Ability to communicate with, supervise and empower volunteers to be effective in their roles. • Ability to build community awareness and network with other community agencies. • Ability to speak publicly. • Knowledge and understanding of issues and dynamic within families in crisis relating to child abuse and neglect. • Skill to advocate strongly and professionally on behalf of clients in conflictual situations and to work resourcefully and independently to identify and seek out needed information and resolutions. • The ability to utilize a variety of computer software packages such as Word, Excel, and Databases. Physical Requirements: • Ability to lift, turn, and move objects of up to and including 15 pounds. • Ability to stand and move about freely for extended periods of time. • Ability to perform repetitious work in an office environment and use manual dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment. • Requires occasional sitting, walking, kneeling, stooping/bending, lifting, squatting, reaching over head, reaching away from body, and repetitive motion. • Requires normal range of vision. Other Requirements: • Valid driver’s license. Must maintain driver’s license during employment • Successful completion of FBI fingerprint clearance, Pennsylvania Child Abuse History clearance, and Pennsylvania State Police background check is a condition of employment.
