Fire Engine Alphabet Clothespin Activity Setting : Small Group Materials Needed: ï· One fire e ngine clothespin mat per child in your small group ï· 26 clothespins per child in your small group ï· F ine point per manent marker s , several different colors ï· Ziploc bags Directions: Print the f ire e ngine letter matching mats on c ardstock and laminate. N ext, buy the cheapest clothespins you can find, I found mine at the Dollar Tree. The clothespins need to be cheap because the more expensive ones have a wax f inish that will resist the permanent marker . N ext, use a fine point permanent marker to write one letter on the clip end of each clothespin. I suggest using a different color ed marker for eac h set of clothespins so the students do nât get them mixed up . You can decide if you want to write upper or lowercase letters on your clothespins depending on the needs of your students. Place one fire engine letter matching mat and 26 clothespi ns in a Ziploc bag, one bag per student in your small group. Teach the students to keep their clothespins in their own bag and just pul l out one at a time; this helps keep the clothespins from getting mixed up .
