Coach Wilcox’s Goals & Objectives of the Baldwinsville Boys Lacrosse Program:To be a Role Model and Leader of the Program. Continue to Build Continuity within Both the Youth and School Program. To Win a Sectional Championship

Baldwinsville Lacrosse Coaches General Thoughts on the Program1) Your foremost goal should be to develop yourself as a student. Baldwinsville has a great academic program which, if used properly, can make a significant contribution to your life. Do not waste your time in class. If you’re missing practice time because of your neglect in your academics, you are in fact hurting the team. 2) Your second goal should be to develop yourself into a high quality student athlete. When it comes to the spring lacrosse season, give your total effort to lacrosse. Playing other sports is essential and encouraged, but you need to concentrate on this sport during the season. No one else should disrupt that.

Continued…3) The coaching staff has confidence in you as a young man, a student, and as an athlete.Set high expectations in the classroom and on the field… and live up to them!4) Never get into a situation that would cause embarrassment to yourself, the team, your family, your coaches, or to your school. Abide by the athletic code of conduct with respect and integrity. Any actions against the School Code of Conduct will not be tolerated. Do the right thing and appropriate life rewards will eventually come to you.

SELECTION/CUT PHILOSOPHY Players at all levels are chosen for their skills, work ethic, and potential as a player & teammate. The purpose of the 7th/8th , 8 th /9 th , and JV teams is to develop players for the Varsity level. All the players on these 3 levels will have an opportunity to have game experience. Player/ Parent CommunicationCommunication is a very important aspect of any team’s success during a season. Also, communication between player and coach can also result in being emotionally, mentally and physically healthy. Any time there is an emotional, mental or physical problem that is occurring with a player they are supported and encouraged to tell the head coach. However, there is a chain of command with communication in the Baldwinsville Boys Lacrosse Program when discussing on the field problems . On the field problems include: playing time, where they’re positioned, team schemes.

Chain of Command:Player to Position CoachThe player must first go to the coach who is coaching their particular lacrosse position (offense/defense/goalie) and try to resolve their problem. 2) Player to Head Coach If the problem cannot be resolved through the position coach, than the player will then discuss their problem with the head coach and will end there.

Chain of Command Continued…3) Parent/Guardian and Player to Head CoachSubjects that appropriate for parents to speak with coaches include treatment of their children physically and mentally, ways to help their children improve, and concerns about their children’s behavior (It is NOT allowed or considered appropriate to bring up playing time, team strategy, or other student athletes with the coaches).

Chain of Command Continued…4) Parent/Guardian and Player to Coach and Athletic DirectorSerious problems regarding an issue of physical or mental harm to player, academic contract problems, and any other extreme events or problems that occur (Playing time will not be discussed with the Athletic Director but rather dismissed)

Social MediaPlayers:Use social media in a positive way. There will be no use of it in a negative way.Cell Phones away in the locker room. Parents:Positive use of social media regarding the program. Email coaches with questions or comments

Player InjuriesPlease inform the coach if you are injured (especially head injury). Without doing that can result in a more severe injury. When an athlete has seen the athletic trainer, the coach will go by the trainer’s protocol for the injury. A player will not practice until it’s cleared from the athletic trainer.

Player Injuries Continued:If a player see’s a doctor you must notify the coach and athletic trainer regarding the result given by doctor. A player must give their medical release from doctor to the school nurse NOT the coach/athletic trainer. The only time that a doctor's note should be given to a coach is if a student was at a doctor or dental visit on that day and was either late or released due to the appointment.

BALDWINSVILLE LACROSSE PARENT/PLAYER GUIDEThe Baldwinsville Boys Lacrosse Parent/Player Guide along with this parent/player meeting presentation can be found on the Baldwinsville Boys Lacrosse Booster Club website: www.bvillelax.com (click the documents icon on the side menu) The primary purpose of this guide is to advise you of the rules policies and procedures of the Baldwinsville Boys Lacrosse Program. Being an important part of a solid lacrosse program can only be accomplished when everything is outlined and understood by all members. This guide is designed with that in mind. It is your responsibility to read, know and understand the complete contents. If there is an area of concern or something you don’t understand, please bring it to the attention of our coaches as soon as possible. The following pages describe the conduct we expect of you as a member of this team. If we are going to be successful as a team these rules must be adhered to. Common sense and respect for the program will accomplish this.

BOOSTER CLUBOFFICERS President: John Steria Vice President: Michelle Petrelli Treasurer: Gene Steria Secretary: Mark Ravas Fundraising Coordinator: Greg Wilcox Web Administrator: Chris Guild At Large: John Doyle The Baldwinsville Boys Lacrosse Booster Club is a support group for the student/athletes in the lacrosse program. There are no political agendas. Everything we do will impact the players in the program in some way. Remember, just because a parent/guardian supports/helps out with the booster club does not mean their child is going to start or even make a particular team. The coaches will decide the rosters.
