3. Google Problems and IssuesGoogle ranks results according to popularity.Web page designers take advantage of Google algorithms and keywords to direct searches to paid advertisers. Commercial web pages often produce duplicate results.Google searches frequently generate large numbers of irrelevant or commercial results.Substantive information produced by government, educational, or non-profit organizations is often overlooked.3

7. 7In this simple Google search, the researcher has neglected to place any operators between search terms.When search operators are not used Google defaults to using the Boolean operator AND. As a result, Google assumes that both terms are being searched for on a single web page.Simple Google Search

8. 8Google’s AND operator is sometimes referred to as a “soft AND.”A web page containing enough occurrences of a single term may return as a result, even when other terms from the search are absent.However, inserting quotation marks forces Google to produce a particular word or phrase.In the second search all results will contain the term borescope, but not necessarily the word endoscopeForcing Google Search Terms
