We convene thousands of national and international leaders in Washington, DC , and across the United States each year. WACA su pports and represents a network of more than 90 nonprofit World Affairs Councils from Maine to Hawaii and Alaska to Florida. WACA and its member Councils a re 501 (c) ( 3 ) organizations that offer a unique platform for t op U.S. and foreign leaders in governmen t, business, and civil society to discuss critical issues in public forums , conferences, and roundtable briefings. Councils also organize programs for young professio nals, students, and educators, as well as arrange international visitor exchanges and cultural activities . Elections to the WACA National Board typically take place in the sp ring for service that begins July 1, the start of our fiscal year. Directors are expected to serve a three - year term and participate as a member of at least one standing committee; all are eligible for re - election to a second term. WACA Advisory Council The Advisory Council supports the mission of the World Affairs Councils of America in a var iety of ways, such as developing strategic relationships and providing guidance to WACA leadership.
