Consultant - Colorectal Surgery Conceptualized in the year 2004 as a philanthropic initiative for the Eastern and North - Eastern parts of India and the neighboring countries, the Tata Medical Center (TMC) started operations in Kolkata on May 16, 2011. The hospital is governed by a charitable trust – Tata Medical Centre Trust. It is an integrated Oncology facility with well - trained professional staff and equipped with modern facilities and the most contemporary medical equipment. The hospital was designed by Cannon Design, a renowned architectural firm from North America. It is located on 13 acres of land at New Town in Kolkata, West Bengal. The Hospital, with a capacity of 43 1 beds, ser ves all sections of the society, with 75% of the infrastructure earmarked for subsidized treatment for the underprivileged sections. It provides a wide spectrum of services from diagnosis and therapy to rehabilitation and palliative support. The Institutio n’s objective is to excel in service, education and research. The GI HPB Oncos urgery unit takes pride in offering the entire range of GI Surgical and non cardiac T horaci c operations (lung and mediastinal tumors) for T horacic and GI Oncology diseases. I n order to offer specialised surgical care, the unit is functionally divided in to three sub - specialities: (1) Upper gastrointestinal, thoracic and peritoneal surface oncology (2) Hepato - pancreatico - biliary surgery (3) Colorectal surgery It is currently run by five consultants , who are supported by six to eight Fellows (Post MC h/MS) . We run outpatient clinics Monday to Friday and operate six whole - day lists every week. Minimal access surgery with conventional laparoscope and Da Vinci robot ic operations are performed routi nely. We also do cytoreductive surgery and HIPEC on a regular basis. Since inception we have done more than 2000 major operations. We assist

Gyne Oncology and Urology (cytoreductive surgery and IVC thrombectomy respectively). Journal presentation, audit an d multidisciplinary meetings complete the weekly academic roster. Data capture in Redcap and internal assessment of trainee s are regular feature. C linicians are ably supported by a full time data entry operator. We regularly present at international and n ational conferences and encourage members to undertake self - development training courses. In order to fulfill additional needs, we are looking to appoint a full time Consultant in Colorectal Surgery . Qualification: M Ch / DNB in GI Surgery with additional training in Colorectal Oncosurgery . Desirable, to have training in MIS and Robotic Surgery. Experience: Minimum 2 to 3 years post M Ch . Job responsibilities: T he newly appointed Consultant Colorectal Surgeon will be respons ible for providing expertise to further develop C olorectal S urgery at TMC . Experience with minimal access surgical techniques will be preferable.
