Madagascar factsMadagascar is in Africa, Africa is a continent. Madagascar is big. It is 226,917 square miles, making it the fourth largest planet in the world (and bigger than Spain, Thailand, Sweden and Germany. its capital city is Antananarivo There also was a cartoon movie called Madagascar 1,2,3. The movie was based in Madagascar. The population is 25.57. Madagascar was discovered in 500AD. The colours of their flag are red and green.

Animals in Madagascar LEMURS are mammalian animals of the order primates, divided into 8 families and consisting of 15 genera and around 100 existing species. In the wild lemurs move in groups and share strong family bonds.

The FOSSA is a cat-like, carnivorous mammal endemic to Madagascar. It is a member of the Eupleridae, a family of carnivorans closely related to the mongoose family. They spend most of their time in trees.

The AYE-AYE is a type of lemur it combines rodent-like teeth. Aye Aye live alone in their home territory. They are becoming endangered.

Famous sites in Madagascar Ifaty: is a fishing village on the south-western edge of Madagascar island. They are famed for their luxurious hotel and attracts loads of people. You can go world class snorkelling in the Indian Ocean, While others enjoy the catamaran tours on the Mozambique channel.Nosy Mangabe: Nestled deep between the coastline of Helodrano Antongila Bay, which carves its way inland on the north-eastern way of Madagascar.

Culture of MadagascarTraditional dress in Northern Madagascar involves wearing the Lamba. The word lamba means cloth or clothing but usually refers to the two matching pieces of fabric that woman wear.

Popular dishes in Madagascar include: Foza sy hena-Kisoa this dish is stir-fried pork and crab served with rice.

Vary amid’ anana: This dish is rice, leaves or herbs, meat and sometimes shrimp.

The money used in Madagascar is Malagasy ariary which is the paper notes and the Iraimbilanja which is the coins.
