Maine Virtual Academy (MEVA) mission is to develop each students full potential with learning - centered instruction, research based curriculum and educational tools and resources to provide a high quality learning experience for grade 7 - 12 students . Recognizing that parental involvement is a key to academic achievement, we seek to involve parents in a partner ship that will provide the best possible education for our students. Parents of children participating in the Title I program shall have the opp o rtunity to be involved in the development and review of the School’s Title I Parent Involvement Policy. PARENT INVOLVEMENT IN POLICY DEVELOPMENT Annually parents and school staff will work to revise and improve the Parent Involvement Policy and School Compact . MEVA will work to actively recruit the participation of a diverse parent population. ANNUAL DISTRICT TITLE I MEETING MEVA uses Title I funds to provide targeted services for students. MEVA will hold at l east one meeting annually to review Title I, Part A parent involvement guidelines and services offered through the school . Copies of the Parent Involvement Policy and a School Compact will be distributed and discussed at the meeting. Parents will be encouraged to become involved in revising and updating the policy as necessary and parent volunteers will be recruited for various school committee appointments. The meeting will be held at a convenient time and location. The meeting will be co nducted in person and virtually. Notice of the meeting will be provided through invitation to paren ts . SCHOOL COMPACTS In accordance with Title I regulations, Title I school and parent representatives will evaluate annua lly and revise if needed, the School Compact. This compact will identify way s the school, parents and student can share the responsibility for student performance and success . A copy of the School Compact detailing these responsibilities will be given at the Annual Meeting and made available on the MEVA website and upon request. Parent/student signatures will not be required; however, parents are encouraged to discuss the conte nts of the compact with their child and both agree to the contents. PARENT INVOLVEMENT OPPORTUNITIES MEVA will support vari ed ways of parental involvement. Parents may contribut e through volunteering with classroom activities, field trips and school c ommittees. Parents are invited to provide input and assist in making decisions regarding their child’s education. STAFF/PARENT COMMUNICATIONS C onferences, personal contacts and written notices will be utilized in English and other languages, as necessary, to meet the needs of our diverse student population and in an attempt to establish and maintain an open line of communication. Parent Conferences will be conducted once a year and written feedback on performance will be provided at the end of each semester. Staff m embers will make every effort to communicate and work with parents and community members. In addition, the MEVA website and other internet and electronic sources will be kept up - to - date in an effort to inform families.
