French Upskilling CourseFollowing on from the success of the last French Upskilling Course, we are pleased to repeat the session. As languages are now compulsory in Primary school, St Anthony’s Beacon Teaching School has developed the French Upskilling Course to help Primary teachers across Sunderland feel better equipped to teach the subject in their classrooms. The course consists of four sessions, each lasting for two hours. During each session the new ‘pupils’ are taught different French topics including: family, friends, sport and the favourite – food and drink! Before each session the group enjoys French-themed refreshments to get them ready to practice their French. At the end of the course they will complete speaking, writing, listening and reading exams on the topics covered in order to achieve an AQA qualification called French ELC. As well as this being an excellent opportunity to improve their French, the course also shares teaching and learning strategies for MFL and demonstrates the different ways to teach a language – most of it being games and singing!‘ ‘Useful aspects of the course include secure vocabulary and correct pronunciation’ ‘The ideas for activities were fun and I will use them in class’The next course is to be confirmed For more information contact enquiries@beaconta.com

Following a highly successful

first term, we are sharing our planned activities for the rest of the academic year.
