Holder The scholarship was established in 1984 in memory of Judge Holder who graduated from the Benjamin Harrison Law School in 1934 and received his Doctor of J uri s prudence from the Indiana University Law School in 1938. It was awarded annually to students based on dedication to the administration of law, financial need, desire to be a practicing trial lawyer, capacity for leadership, academic achievement and military service record if any. The recipients are selected by the Cale J. Holder Sub - Advisory Committee at the Indiana Bar Foundation. Please review th e biography of Judge Holder here . Hon. Cale J . Holder Scholarship Criteria Consideration s hall be give n to the person’s dedication to the administration of law under the Constitution of the U.S., the Constitution of the state of Indiana, and the Anglo - American Common Law, and the person shall show a clear understanding of the De c lara t ion of Independence o f 1776. Consideration shall be given to the personal’s financial needs as a student. Emphasis shall be given to the demonstrated desire on the part of the person selected to become a practicing trial lawyer. Persons selected shall have a demonstrated capacity for leadership, by their activities in charitable private organizations, or participation in religious or community organizations, or by income - producing self - employment. The student’s aptitude for the study of law and previ ous achieve ment in the course of study. The military service record, if any, of the person and whether the person served in the U.S. both well and honorably. How to Apply: Applications must be submitted electronically th rough this form .
